Somehow, Caiden’s comment made Zuri laughed. She looked at the gamma gleefully and wiped her tears. "I like that." She sniffled.
"Good. We can get Gayle to kidnap him." Caiden was sure the warrior wouldn’t be thrilled with the idea, but he was glad that Zuri looked more in control over herself. "Come on, Khaos wanted you to be in the fortress."
Zuri wiped her face again, pulling her hair, making sure that she looked presentable and then followed Caiden.
On their way to the fortress, Caiden couldn’t help but asked her out of curiosity. "What did he say to you? You look very upset."
The gamma had to admit, he couldn’t dislike Zuri. She had been wronged her whole life and it would be hard to learn that your own brother, who you thought was someone that could rely on, actually someone that had used you since the beginning and put you through something unimaginable.
"He asked me to agree to inflict more curses, so the beauty blood can be completed soon."
"Oh." Caiden didn’t know what to say about that. He would rather let Khaos dealt with it, because in one side, he knew it was necessary for them to complete the beauty blood, but if Rhett could see how Khaos acted differently toward Zuri, Caiden obviously could tell the same thing too.
Khaos had been interested with Zuri even before he knew that she was the Shell.
And now, Caiden was well aware how complicated the situation would be and why Khaos wanted to buy some time in order not to inflict the curses on Zuri in such short interval from the last time they inflicted the curses.
"I don’t mind with the curses... it’s not like I remembered what happened, since they erased my memories afterward, but... I felt betrayed." Zuri furrowed her brows. "It’s irony... since I betrayed my own father and Xaden. Probably, it’s a karma." She echoed the same thing that voices in her head had been telling her.
"Nonsense." Caiden stretched his body. "What kind of karma that messed up with the timeline. Your brother betrayed you first for years."
Zuri didn’t say anything.
"What? The voices in your head telling you something?" Caiden just recently learned about this from Gayle, since Zuri spent quite some time with the warriors and he had seen how she would have a breakdown a few times.
Zuri raised her head, she looked uncomfortable, but she didn’t say anything. Initially, she wanted to ask him if he thought she was crazy, but she didn’t want to hear the answer.
"Tell the voices in your head to fuck off." Caiden grinned.
Seeing him reacted to this casually made Zuri felt relief. She felt a brick that pressed her chest disappeared. The thought that Caiden didn’t see her weirdly was enough to make her happy.
And right at that time, Khaos approached them with Gayle. He saw the smile on Zuri and Caiden’s face.
