A Mate For The Last Lycan novel Chapter 174

Chapter 174: WE NEED TO HELP THE ALPHA

What Zuri said was not exactly what Khaos had been planning, but it was so close. The only mistake there was; Zuri was still thinking Khaos’s goal was to give Dacre a bad image in front of the public when his true goal was to strip him down from his throne.

The golden stamp was almost in his hand and the beauty blood was only a curse away from completion. More so, seeing how normal Zuri was right now, one more curse would be a walk in the garden.

However, Khaos was still not willing to put her through the ritual. He was stalling and he knew that.

"That’s how you gained profit from the trading, hm?" Khaos pinched her chin and lifted her head so he could see those eyes, her black eyes sparkled in excitement. She was excited to scheme against the king.

"I am a merchant by heart." Zuri grinned.

"What if Dacre refused to buy it?" Khaos tested her. He liked to see the wickedness in her eyes.

"Then, he will let the people starved and it will be on him, if they died because of it. It will enrage the people." Zuri smirked. "I have observed Princess Rose like what you said and she cared so much about public opinion, that’s how she made her approach, there is no way she will not suggest the king to appease the people first."

"You are very smart," he praised her. "How lucky I am to have you."

Zuri smiled so wide, she thought she would look very ridiculous, but she didn’t care. His compliment sounded really nice. No. It sounded amazing. She felt great.

His compliment was like an addiction. She wanted it more.

And now, Zuri could understand. She didn’t change. She was still the same. The little girl, who was so thirsty for acknowledgment and Khaos always gave what she needed. He said the words that she wanted to hear. He touched her in a way that made her felt comfortable.

Whether it was a mate bond or not, or whether it was the attachment between the lycan and the Shell, Zuri knew that Khaos would be the only person, who could make her comfortable.

"Well, I am glad, I can make you feel that way." Khaos smirked. Her mind amused him.

"Stop reading my mind!"

Well, he comforted her, but he annoyed her as well.

"Who are you?" Ezra stared at the other person, who was hiding in the shadow of the night, he was standing next to an oak tree.

After Khaos ordered him to leave River Creek pack, he had been spending his time in Greywolf pack, fidgeting over the thought that Khaos’s attachment toward Zuri would hinder their life long goal.

"I am part of the cult. I am here to inform you about what happened," the man said.

His voice was low and rough and from his scent, Ezra knew that he was a shifter. If he was part of the cult, he must not be part of the magic user, who put the curse on Zuri.

The cult consisted of magic users and shifters alike, but Ezra had not yet had time to learn more about them, because Khaos was so livid when he learned what he approached Zuri behind his back.

The alpha was willing to throw him aside and demote his son for that woman. So, Ezra felt justified if he was worried if Khaos couldn’t complete the beauty blood.
