Zuri showed Lyra a small packet of opium that she used to have and her eyes lit up, she lunged at her again, but Zuri easily dodged her. It was not so hard to do that, Lyra’s move was clumsy at best, though the expression on her face could send shiver down her spine.
This shrine was located in the middle of the city, where bustling street was only a few minutes walk away, but Lyra was so bold to choose this shrine as a place for her to get high. She liked the attention from the people, who saw her as a saint.
Thus, she made sure, they knew when she was here.
"Give it to me!" Lyra growled at Zuri, this was not the gentle behavior that she used to show to other people. Everyone really had their own dark secret and shit they wanted to hide.
"Why? Sir Bairone refused to give you more? He didn’t want you to increase the dose?" Zuri tilted her head, taunted her.
Lyra should have known that, she should know that Zuri knew her secret, but her mind was so muddle, she couldn’t think straight.
"I will not give you a shit!" Lyra growled at her, but Zuri didn’t budge. A growl was not enough to make her flinch.
"Fine." Zuri nodded graciously, which only confused Lyra, because she expected a fight, an argumentation, but there was nothing. The other woman threw her off guard. "Here, you can take this."
Zuri threw the small packet filled with opium to her face, but Lyra was too slow to catch it, it slid down from her face and then dropped around her feet.
She blinked her eyes, she looked silly when she did that and Zuri chuckled with the sight.
"Go on, take it, I know that you want it."
Losing her mind, Lyra knelt down and took the small packet, she blinked her eyes again and then sniffed. She beamed when she recognized it.
Zuri watched when Lyra breathed in the powder and her eyes rolled back, she looked happy, she looked like she didn’t care for the world, she had her own world and she was happy there. Zuri wondered how it felt to be happy like that...
Slowly, Zuri approached Lyra, who was giggling, licking her hands for any remnants of the powder. She looked crazy, but happy...
Zuri knelt down next to her and she was not even alerted with their close proximity. "I will give you more. Meet me here three days from now."
Lyra gave Zuri the sweetest smile, as she giggled and laughed. She even kissed Zuri’s cheek and nodded like a little child.
"Okay, okay... okay..."
Zuri stood up, she wiped her cheek, where Lyra had kissed her and walked away, but not before she stared at the princess’s happy face. She wondered, how it felt to get high like that...
And once Zuri had walked away, Lyra was alone there, her laughter echoed throughout the shrine’s walls. She sounded happy to escape the reality and go to whatever places in her mind that she desired.
"Wow, you are quick," Caiden commented, as he met her at the exit of the shrine in the backyard. Not so far from them, at the corner of the bustling street was a carriage, where Khaos had been waiting for her.
