A Mate For The Last Lycan novel Chapter 19

Chapter 19: PRINCE KHAOS

Khaos.

He was the second child of the previous king from the second queen. Dacre and Xaden's

mother died nineteen years ago and the following year, their king father made Khaos' mother the queen.

From what Zuri heard, he was sent to guard the territory in the Three Deadly Ways as punishment two years ago, because he had committed a heinous crime toward one of the members of River Creek pack, her father's pack.

He would have ended up with a death sentence hanging over him if he was not from the royal family, but instead, he was sent to guard their territory for two long years.

They had met a few times before, but Zuri had never paid close attention to him. It was only now, in this close proximity, that she realized he had gray eyes. The color was so beautiful, especially when the light from the sun reflected off them. Like an array of light that pierced through the mist.

It was so bold of Zuri to stare even a little bit longer than she was allowed, but she snapped back from his captivating gray eyes when she caught him staring at her. The corner of his lips tilted upward, forming a smirk.

Zuri averted her gaze and sat down beside Xaden, she greeted the king and the queen.

Queen Rimera was pregnant, she was due in two months. This was her fifth pregnancy, yet she and the king remained childless, as she had been unable to carry any of her pregnancies to full

term.

She had three miscarriages and one stillbirth.

Somehow, Zuri could see her own future looking at her. In less than half a year of her union with Xaden, she already had one miscarriage.

"I will take my leave now," Khaos said, as he stood up. His voice was heavy and deep and this caught Zuri's attention again. She had tuned out of the small talk that had been going on until a moment ago, as it was merely exchanging pleasantries with no real issues being discussed.

Men wouldn't talk about important things in front of women.

"You don't need to leave in such a hurry, the Three Deadly Ways will always be there," Xaden jabbed.

Zuri couldn't gauge the relationship between him and Khaos. She couldn't draw a conclusion from this short interaction.

"I am not going back until winter," Khaos said, he stood up and walked over to approach... Zuri. She was stunned when he stopped right behind her chair. "But, I will pay you a visit, brother."

Khaos stretched out his hand and out of instinct, Zuri stood up and gave him hers, then saw how he kissed the back of her hand.

It was not something inappropriate, it was a way to greet a lady. There was nothing obnoxious about it, but Zuri could feel Xaden's heated gaze on her hand that was kissed by Khaos.

"Nice to meet you, Luna Zuri." Khaos smiled at her, but she felt like he was taunting her. Or, it was just in her mind. "Welcome to the family."

"Thank you, Prince Khaos." Her voice was small, laced with confusion.

"I will see you soon."

This time, Xaden stood up, but Khaos had let go of Zuri's hand and then walked away.

"He pisses me off," Xaden growled, as he sat down and glared at Zuri to sit down too. "Can't you do something about his punishment? Two years is not enough. He should have been sent away out of the continent."
