Of course, Mabel remembered how Zuri had almost killed her mate and in extent demoted her son from his position as the gamma of the pack. How could she forget about that? That was why she hated this woman. She would vote for the completion of beauty blood right away.
One more curse.
One more curse and the alpha would have the world within his palm, but the mate bond between them would be a trouble, which meant, even after the completion of the beauty blood, Zuri would still be around. She would be the luna of the pack and that fact was hard for Mabel to stomach.
"Now, scram from my sight and never touch me again. I might lose my temper and I can assure you it will not look pretty," Zuri warned her and then walked away, thankfully, the threat worked, because Mabel stopped pestering her and Zuri could easily find Khaos’s bedroom.
There was hatred and anger in Mabel’s eyes, but it was not something new for Zuri, she had faced worst than Mabel. Right now, she was only a distraction.
Zuri was tired, it was a long journey and spent the rest of the day sleeping, while Khaos was busy himself, taking care of various different problem, which was caused by Bryden’s silly ignorance and his ’smart’ decision.
She only woke up when she heard whispering voices around her. At first, she thought it was the voices in her head and tried to brush it off, because she was still sleepy, but then it got clearer and she realized, she was not alone in this room.
"She smells weird..."
"She is so skinny..."
"I think she is sick..."
"Do you think she will be our luna?"
"I don’t know."
"Mother said she has been marked by the alpha."
"We need to see her mark."
"No, she will wake up."
"Oh, please, don’t be a coward, she is sleeping."
Zuri didn’t immediately let them knew that she heard their little discussion, from the sound of it, sha could guess, who these little intruders.
She remembered Caiden had twin brothers and Lucas had a brother that he left in this pack too, as he went on a mission that Khaos gave him. From the look of it, they were getting along well. Their childish, curious voice was actually adorable.
And Zuri felt the bed dipped down, one of the boys must be climbing it to look for her mark.
How old were they? Seven? Eight? They must not be older than nine... the last time Zuri saw the twins was months ago when she came to this pack to hand over her sick wolf.
"Get down..." one of the boys whispered, but the one that had climbed on the bed ignored him. He moved around Zuri’s body, trying to be secretive, but seriously, anyone would have woken up when you stumbled on their body and made a lot of noises like this.
"No, come on in. She is still sleeping. She doesn’t have any self awareness..." the boy criticized Zuri. "Father said you have to sleep with one eye opened and never put your guard down, but she is very reckless."
