Zuri couldn't understand why she had been seeing things that she shouldn't. She really needed to get her medicine.
She started to lose grip over what was real and what was not...
The next day, she asked Khaos if it was alright for her to return to the Blackthorne pack house because there were a few things that she wanted to take with her and Khaos sent Gayle to accompany her.
She didn't tell him the reason for her sudden outburst and thankfully, Khaos didn't prod further about it. She was glad that he was being understanding, or probably he simply didn't care. Everything was a mess in her head. She didn't know what to believe anymore.
"Logan is the Alpha of the pack now," Gayle informed her as he followed her through the front gates of the pack house. "He made a deal with the King to avoid receiving the death sentence. He spilled all of their plans and also the secrets he knew about Alpha Xaden and his contact with the Great Lunar kingdom."
That was the leverage Logan had used to save his life. After that, he pledged his loyalty to the king and was granted the title of the alpha.
"Apparently, I am not the only traitor," Zuri said flatly. There was no humor in her voice.
Gayle silently observed Zuri, because he had a strong feeling that she would one day become the luna of their pack, given how much attention the alpha paid to her. Though in his mind, the alpha could have someone better.
He saw her outburst yesterday and was convinced that she still felt something for her late mate and probably regretted her decision.
Moreover, the most important thing was the fact that she could turn her back against her former pack, her current pack, her own mate and also her parents. Despite her information being very valuable for them to vanquish the coup, it was scary to know what she was capable of doing.
If she could do that to them, she could do the same thing to their alpha and Khaos... he held so many dark secrets that would ruin their lifelong planning if they were all leaked out before time.
In short, it was dangerous to have someone like Zuri around their alpha. She was not someone that could be perceived as loyal.
"Good morning..." Logan greeted them when they entered the pack house, he had been informed about this visit. "I don't know how to address you because right now, I believe you are no longer the Luna of the pack."
His voice carried a hint of passive aggressiveness. He was still upset, mad even, about Zuri's role in the failure of the coup that killed a lot of people in the process and jeopardized everything.
"You don't need to address me with anything, I only need to go to my bedroom." Zuri didn't change her expression at all, she was unfazed in the face of the hatred that Logan exuded and Gayle smirked to see her fierceness.
Logan glanced at Gayle and then stepped aside. He knew Gayle was one of Khaos' warriors, and given whatever relationship Zuri had with Khaos, she was not someone he could mess with, especially since the alpha personally sent his man to escort her.
"You don't need to come with me, I know where my room is," Zuri said when Logan tried to follow her. The former beta stopped and watched her leave.
