Chapter 64: YOU WILL JEOPARDIZE EVERYTHING

"Sleep," Khaos said and then climbed off the bed, clearly planning to walk out of the bedroom, which left Zuri speechless.

"Wait," Zuri called him in a rush and Khaos stopped. He turned around and looked at her, as if asking what she wanted.

Actually, Zuri didn't have anything to say, she only called him because she wanted to spend more time with him, just a bit longer, but because she was put on the spot like this, she needed to think of a reasonable excuse for why she had called him.

"About the thing you requested of me..." Zuri stuttered a bit, but then she thought it was a good reason. "I think I can help you find it, but I can't do it on my own... I need, uhm, assistance."

Khaos nodded, he expected as much. He had been looking for that for years now and had no clue where that thing was. The only lead that he had was the black market, but that place was shady and money alone was not enough to find the information that he needed.

"Just tell me what you need. I will provide it for you."

After saying that, Khaos left the room.

The room fell silent. Too quiet for her liking, while the cold wind of autumn night blew through the window. The room was dim and it was depressing.

Somehow, Zuri felt she was being abandoned. She felt she was undesirable, since Khaos didn't bother to touch her, it must be because she had been mated to Xaden.

Not only had she been mated and marked by another alpha, but she also got pregnant by him and lost the baby.

How could someone like Khaos choose her? There were a lot of women out there with great qualifications and good family backgrounds, while she had tarnished her own name. People would remember her as the daughter of a traitor, a second hand woman...

"No! Stop!" Zuri covered her ears. She was not sure whether it was she, who was degrading herself or it was the voices in her head that tried to mess with her mind, despite the fact that she had taken the pills. She didn't know what to believe anymore.

Her craziness and self loathing consumed her, and she couldn't even scream for help.

Zuri looked around her, thinking she would see Xaden or her mother's faces, but thankfully, neither of them appeared.

This was a very exhausting feeling.

Zuri was in constant fight with the demons inside her head.

In the other room, Bryden had been waiting for Khaos. He mindlinked the alpha that there was an important thing he needed to discuss with him, that was why Khaos left Zuri's bedroom.

"I have relayed your message to Ezra and he said he didn't know anything about Mabel's plan to come and see Luna Zuri herself, but..." Bryden was a little bit hesitant when he continued. "He said he could understand Mabel's concern and he requested to see you as soon as possible."
