"What about the lycan?" Zuri asked casually, if she was anxious, she didn't show it on her face, neither Khaos, he looked very calm, even though they were going to hear another information about the lycan.
Ever since the fallen of the old dynasty, the topic about the lycan was a taboo topic, but then, there were not many things to talk about aside from the hidden wealth of the lycan that had not yet been found, that was why the tension in the Three Deadly Ways was pretty high.
All of them wanted to get their hands on the old dynasty's wealth. No one would back down for such fortune.
In the end, the three kingdoms, who once fought alongside each other, were currently fighting against one another.
"It's not a popular rumor, but it is among the hunter," Lucas said, he contemplated for a while, touching his chin and then tilted his head. "Don't you think I deserve more golden for this information?"
And before Zuri could protest, Khaos had thrown a pouch of golden to him. "Speak," he said curtly.
Lucas caught the pouch, his eyes lit up to see the mount inside, his mouth looked almost watery when he counted the golden coin. "I should have worked with you." He liked the money a lot.
"We can arrange that," Khaos replied casually. "Now, speak."
Lucas contemplated for a while, but then he chose his words carefully. "Well, the rumor about the lycan happened two years ago. Someone saw a lycan near the ruin of the Great Palace in the Three Deadly Ways. Some people said this informant only saw thing, or even ghost from the dead lycans, but some believed it. It created so many theories among the informant and a few months later, there was this anonymous order to dig deeper into the lycan information, whether or not there is a lycan, who survived the massacre thirty years ago."
Lucas shrugged his shoulder nonchalantly, as he pocketed all of the gold. This room was akin to a small library with shelves of book covered the four walls. There were two doors. The first door that Zuri and Khaos came in and the other door was camouflaged as the bookshelf, where Lucas came out.
"If what that man saw was true and he really saw a lycan beast, then that lycan must be the last lycan." Lucas sighed. "That's it."
"What theories that spread around?" Zuri asked, she was on alert. She glanced at Khaos a few times, but he appeared very calm.
Lucas smirked. "You need to pay me more for that information." He shook his head. "Just because I worked for your brother, I will give you a free pass. Nah ah." He wiggled his forefinger. "I need to make a living too."
Not many people knew about this, unless you were on the business that related to that. Khaos's scout didn't get this information because they were not on the same business line. They were there to supply Khaos with the information that he needed to get his revenge and was not aware about the race among the informants to get any information related to the lycan.
"What is the price?" Zuri kept trying, but Lucas zipped his mouth and then walked back to the door behind him.
"I will appreciate it if you bring more money next time you want more information." Lucas then disappeared behind the shelf.
Zuri whipped her head toward Khaos, but the alpha already stood up and grabbed her by the alpha to make her stand up too. He gave her a look that told her not to say anything about it. At least, not now, not here.
Their walked back was filled with silent, as they met with the jewelry owner and Khaos bought
a ring for Zuri. It was not something sentimental, but he did it on a whim.
