A Mate For The Last Lycan novel Chapter 89

Chapter 89: A CORNERED BEAST

Caiden had sensed something was off with Zuri, but he couldn't tell what was that and now, he knew... she was insane.

Why would she attack Silas? More importantly, how could she exude such strong killing intent?

"Zuri?" Caiden called her name. He didn't know what to do or say. He could fight her and he would if it came to that, but it was obvious that the fight wouldn't end good for one of them. "Zuri, why are you doing this?"

The black beast let out a vicious growl, while Silas was trembling behind him. Blood oozed out from his deep wounds. He was dying and Zuri didn't even bat an eye to finish him off.

"Zuri?" Caiden gritted his teeth and he could feel it even before it happened.

Out of instinct, the gamma shifted into his beast right at that time when Zuri attacked him. There was no recognition in her eyes, as if she didn't know who he was.

The fight was vicious. They snapped at each other, trying to take their opponent down in the most vicious way possible.

Caiden couldn't take her lightly, because it wouldn't end good for him. From the look of it alone, Zuri was determined to get to Silas and Caiden was an obstacle in her eyes. She wanted nothing, but to see blood.

Blood...

More blood...

More of it...

The gamma was having a hard time to defend himself against Zuri, despite the fact he was a well trained warrior, Zuri's movement was unpredictable and she was incredibly agile and fast for her own good. She dodged his attack and got out his clutch briskly. It helped because her beast was smaller than Caiden's. She knew how to take advantage of it, which was... incredible.

Shit!

Zuri managed to circle him and get his back, she was so close to claw his neck when suddenly she stopped and then backed off.

Caiden didn't know what happened, but this was his chance!

"Stop it, Caiden."

Khaos's voice was not too loud, but it was firm. It filled with authority, which made Caiden stop in his attack. The gamma watched Zuri shifted into her human form. Her body was stained with blood. Silas's blood.

Seeing that, Caiden shifted back into his human form as well. He furrowed his brows deeply. "Khaos, don't come near her, there is something not right with her." He couldn't help, but feel this trembling in his heart. That was a close call!

How could a woman, untrained one on top of that, got his back?! That hurt his pride as a warrior. That's completely not right.

"Khaos, don't go! She is not in her right mind!" Caiden grabbed Khaos's shoulder and pointed his finger at Silas, who was so pale, pooled in his own blood. It was not sure, when he lost consciousness. His eyes closed, he looked like he was dead if it was not for the raising and falling of his chest.

Caiden flinched when Zuri growled at him, she glared at his hand that was on Khaos's shoulder. She didn't like it when he touched him. Her eyes were crazy.
