Maria exclaimed, "What? So, Thomas is your real brother? How could your biological family ask you to become their housekeeper? You're their real daughter! What were they thinking? Are they crazy?
"Actually, you do look similar to Thomas. If it were me, I wouldn't agree to their demands! Why would I become their housekeeper? How could you become their foster daughter's personal assistant? That's ridiculous!
"Did they mistreat you? They didn't help you when you were bashed online, right? That makes sense. They already treated you like a housekeeper. Why would they treat you well?
"I thought such ridiculous events would only occur in novels. I didn't expect to encounter this in real life!"
There were many things Maria wanted to complain about, so she answered her own questions while Demi listened.
"At first, I thought you were a little stubborn toward Ana and Thomas. Now, I know that you controlled yourself. If it was up to me, I'd cuss them out!" she continued angrily.
"In the future, I won't give them any materials at all! I gave them five matches today. I was too lenient toward them! Later on, I'll tell the other guests to exchange the materials only among ourselves. We can't give them to Ana or Thomas!"
"Alright. Let's sleep." Demi smiled. "All this happened in the past."
To her, it had all happened a long time ago.
"Oh! Why aren't you infuriated? I'm so angry that my chest hurts!" Maria patted her own chest and tried to calm down.
After that, Maria asked her other questions—what her foster family was like, what living with Margaret was like, and how the Pitt family had bullied her.
Though Demi gave simple answers and hid a lot of terrible experiences from Maria, the latter still burst into tears.
She was unable to imagine that at five years old, Demi had to stand on a stool and cook, wash clothes, and watch as other children farmed in the fields, and she couldn't stand listening to how Demi's foster parents had abused her.
When Demi was ten, she had to help Margaret pick up rubbish for a living although she was supposed to be playing in school.
At 12 years old, although she was supposed to be studying hard, she had to leave school so that Margaret wouldn't suffer that much.
When she finally found her real parents at the age of 15, not only did they order her about like a housekeeper every day, but she also had to listen to Ana all the time.
How could this happen? Why was Demi so unfortunate?
But, Demi was such a nice person.
"Don't cry, Maria. Otherwise, it'll be hard to explain it to the netizens during the livestream tomorrow," Demi said with a smile.
"Why are you grinning? Aren't you angry?" Maria asked in a muffled voice as she lay sideways and stared at her.
"Of course. But that's all in the past," Demi replied calmly.
"If I were you, I'd scold them every time I saw them. What the hell!" Maria was still very angry.
So, Demi comforted her the entire night.
