110.Chapter 110
Teresa barely knew Peter, meeting him several times only through Jonathan, Peter was around Evelyn’s age. He was a single man in his forties who enjoyed smoking and drinking.
It was said Peter was part of the first group to make it big in Strico. Now, he had moved to Archulea. Ever since Teresa’s divorce from Jonathan, she had not seen Peter. Teresa locked Luviston Estates’s gate before heading to the airport to pick Peter up. He was bald, wearing dark sunglasses, and dressed in simple, casual sportswear. Seeing Teresa, he took off his sunglasses and walked over. “Haha! Teresa, have you been waiting for long?”
“Not at all, Peter. I just arrived.” Teresa smiled. “Jonathan asked me to pick you up since he’s on a business trip and couldn’t come.”
“He called me. I haven’t been back to Nareigh in years, so I don’t know my way around anymore. Haha!” Peter said.
He was witty and humorous. As they walked, Teresa asked him where they should go, and if they should find a place to eat. After all, she should properly welcome him.
Peter suggested, “I heard from Jonathan that you started a company. How about we just have a bite to eat there?”
“How is that okay? You’re finally back. We should at least go to a restaurant!” she responded.
“Haha! Why are you being so formal with me? I’m back this time to see if there’s anything new to invest in, so let’s check out your company first,” he said.
Teresa was surprised and wondered, ‘Peter wants to invest? Perfect timing–I’ve been. concerned about the company’s cash flow. I’ll gladly accept it, then.”
She showed Peter around the company. He occasionally nodded and looked at Teresa with admiration. “You’re managing the company well. Did Jonathan mentor you?” “He didn’t. He’s been too busy. We’ve been divorced for over two years now,” Teresa answered.
“Oh damn!” Peter slapped his forehead in surprise. “You two are divorced? He never told me!”
Teresa gave a slight smile, “I thought you should know by now. We’re just busy with our own things.”
Switching the topic, Teresa invited Peter to a meal while they discussed the company‘ s future prospects.
Peter said decisively, “Teresa, I’m planning to invest 30 million dollars in Teresouth Group.”
Teresa patted her chest. “Peter, maybe you should think it over again. You are Jonathan’s former employer, and I worry he’ll say I’m taking advantage of you.”
Peter laughed. “I trust you and Jonathan’s character. If I lose money, I won’t hold you responsible. I’ll look to him for compensation.”
Teresa laughed too, knowing Peter was joking. “No worries, we certainly won’t let your suffer any losses.”
Teresa felt relieved. She had been stressed about the company’s cash flow, but Peter’s investment was a godsend, solving her immediate crisis. At least for the next few months, she wouldn’t have to worry about not paying the employees.
It was getting late. Peter said he had to leave. Teresa got up and asked, “Where are you staying? Should I arrange a nice hotel for you?”
“Your husband, I mean, your ex–husband already arranged a hotel for me.” Peter corrected himself with a laugh, and Teresa did not say anything more.
