While the guests were having fun, there were also those handling their losses. Whether it was a loss in a family, friend, or an entire lifestyle, people handled it differently. For most part, many were trying to move forward.

Even if they had been beaten down by the world, but the end of that war was the beginning of a new life for many.

One of these cases were that of the siblings Jest and Jord from Basset Town.

Jest, who was one of the ‘low threat’ prisoners of war, was still assigned to the cleaning crew. Some time ago, he had approached Miss Althea and her family during a festival and had asked them to look out for his brother in exchange for information he knew about Basset.

Although what he knew was limited, it did give a good starting point for their spies, and they even managed to find good locations to hang around and get deeper information.

To be honest, Jest knew he was being hopeful. Everyone had so many tasks, why would they go so far as to look for a kid for a bit of information?

Further, the longer the spies stayed there and no news of her brother came, the more hopeless he became. He couldn’t demand too much either because he was a mere slave.

Things changed when, a day after the war, he was asked to go to the orphanage.

Things were being handled in a rush and everyone was busy so not much explanation was given. His seniors (the Alterrans in charge of assigning cleaners) just passed him the order and didn’t explain anything else. At the time, he just thought he had been assigned to clean the place.

What was funny and sad was that he had a methodology to start at the edges, slowly cleaning his way to the front. So, for the next hour or so of his arrival there, he was stupidly sweeping the leaves and picking the few loose fruits on the ground.

It was only when he reached near the entrance area that he heard people talking by the door. “You should wait inside
the people from the Cleaning Department said he left nearly an hour ago,” a gentle voice said. “He is probably just lost. Let’s wait for him inside, okay?”

This was followed by a sniffle
 and a very familiar voice!

“I guess he got beat up so much he can’t tell directions anymore.”

Jest’s broom fell to the ground, and he immediately ran to the door.

“JORD!!”

Jest was so surprised that this happened—and so quickly. After all, it wasn’t like their names were at the top of anyone’s head.

However, he later found out that Jord, after being sent to the orphanage, insisted that he had a brother in Alterra.

He didn’t even know he was alive, but was insistent on it.

Anyway, the siblings’ touching reunion filled with tears lasted for quite some time. They were inconsolable, and Helen could only try to give them space. They were quite loud and it attracted many of the other kids so she, as the head of the orphanage, made sure the reunion was not interrupted.

Before she guided the nosy kids away, she went to the brothers who weren’t quite sure what to do with the fortune of seeing each other again.
