Nathan and Tristan had been on edge for days, the anger gnawing at them with each passing hour that Ella remained missing. Their victory over Moon Lake meant nothing without her by their side. Every lead, every dead-end only fueled the fire within them, making them more volatile with each passing day.
Ryan, trailing behind them in silence, was a shell of his former self. He knew Alpha Rambo was gone—relocated to some unknown place, far beyond their reach. But the experiments he had endured had left him with a grim realization: his life now depended on one thing. Ella. Only she could reverse the damage done to him.
As the group prepared to return to the Alpha council, Sara broke through the tense quiet.
"I found the cat," she said, her voice low but clear.
Nathan and Tristan froze, eyes locking onto her.
"The witch," Sara clarified, a smirk creeping onto her face. "I found the witch. It’s time to get what she owes to all of us."
The twins exchanged a glance, barely containing their fury. The witch was their only lead now, and they didn’t waste time. Within hours, they had cornered her, magic and fury clashing as they chased her through the forest.
As the twins approached the witch’s house, the air grew thick with an unnatural tension, a shiver crawling down their spines. The dilapidated cabin stood at the edge of the forest, its twisted branches seeming to reach out like skeletal fingers.
As Nathan and Tristan stepped into the witch’s dimly lit lair, the air thickened with dark magic. Shelves overflowed with ominous jars and strange herbs, flickering candles casting eerie shadows. The witch stood at the far end, a sinister smile on her lips.
“Ah, the little wolves come to play,” she crooned. “Did you really think you could breach my defenses so easily?”
Tristan stepped forward, fists clenched. “We’re not here for games. We want to know where Ella is.”
The witch laughed, a sound that echoed off the walls. “And why would I tell you? That little girl is just another pawn in my game.”
“Enough!” Nathan snapped. “You’ll tell us what we want, or we’ll make you regret crossing us.”
“Regret?” she mocked, flicking her wrist. A wave of energy surged toward them, crackling with dark magic. Nathan raised an arm, feeling the force collide against him like a wave. He pushed through, anger igniting his determination.
“Tristan, now!” Nathan shouted as Tristan charged, lunging at the witch.
But she vanished, reappearing behind him. “Did you really think I wouldn’t see that coming?” she taunted.
Tristan spun around, eyes blazing. “We’ve faced worse than you!”
“Is that so?” The witch snapped her fingers, rattling jars that released a torrent of glass shards spiraling toward them like deadly arrows.
Nathan leaped forward, grabbing Tristan’s arm. “Out of the way!”
“Let’s work together!” Tristan yelled.
“Don’t underestimate me!” the witch hissed. “I’ve seen your kind fall before!”
Nathan spotted a heavy chain on the wall, glimmering with magic. “I’ll need a moment!”
“Do it!” Tristan roared, charging at the witch. “Face me!”
“Coward?” she repeated, a sneer twisting her face. “You have no idea what fear is! Let me show you!”
With a flick of her wrist, shadows lashed out at Tristan, wrapping around him like a serpent. He grunted, struggling against the energy.
“Tristan!” Nathan shouted, heart racing as he rushed toward the chain.
“Focus on breaking the magic!” Tristan yelled. “I’ll hold her off!”
Nathan seized the chain and swung it toward the witch, who was distracted by Tristan’s struggle. The chain glowed with silvery light, cutting through her dark energy.
