Silence.
The atmosphere in the room suddenly became depressing.
Charles put the jade pendant back on his neck and said with a gloomy expression on his face, “Call that guard over in 20 minutes.”
Marie grunted a reply and called her subordinates to arrange this. Then, she stood at one side.
Dream Club was not that far away from the hospital. 15 minutes later, the security guard rushed over while drenched in sweat. He greeted everyone in the hospital room restlessly.
“Do you know why I asked you here?” Charles sat on the bed. His eyes were nailed on the guard.
The guard started sweating when he was being stared at by Charles. He swallowed and stammered, “I-I don’t know.”
“Are you the one who spread Sophia’s nudes?” Charles stood up and towered over the guard who was half a head shorter than him. There was an ominous glint in his eyes.
Even if the guard was stupid, he would have a sense that Mr. Harris was on Sophia’s side even if they were rumored to have beef.
His back felt cold as he was being questioned. His limbs felt soft, and he said quickly, “N-no. When Sophia was thrown out by you while naked, my brothers and I were summoned by the person in charge. We were not in the surveillance room. When we got back, the footage had already been deleted by Ms. Marie. I didn’t have the time to screenshot it!”
Marie walked in front of the guard without waiting for Charles to say anything. The corner of her eyes was twitching. “Then, Sophia’s nudes…”
“That’s not Sophia!” The security guard was afraid that Charles would put the blame on him. Before Marie could finish, he interrupted her mid-sentence.
Charles tugged at his collar. He knitted his eyebrows together. “Hm?”
“That’s… That’s a picture I downloaded online. I photoshopped it into the camera footage.” The security guard was trembling all over.
He lowered his head and said in a shaky voice, “Everyone’s talking about Sophia and… A lot of people were asking me for the footage, so I photoshopped one.”
He was afraid that people would notice it was fake, so he purposely edited the face so no one could tell that it was not Sophia.
Charles’ eyes were cold. He was faking a smile. There were veins popping from his neck. “How talented. It’s such a waste of talent asking you to be a security guard.”
“Not at all. It’s my pleasure to be able to work in Dream Club. A lot of people envy me.” The security guard fawned over Charles carefully.
Charles pressed his lips together tightly and peered at him. His eyes looked like an endless abyss.
The security guard went cold when he was being looked at like this. “Mr. Harris, I was wrong. I’ll tell everyone it’s a photoshopped photo later. I will not let Sophia be misunderstood.”
“Give Marie a list of names of the people who asked for the footage,” Charles changed the topic and said suddenly.
The security guard nodded like a chicken pecking on the ground.
“Alright. You’re not needed anymore. You can go now,” Marie said after reading Charles’ expression.
The security guard wiped the sweat off his forehead. He slowly jogged to the door as if he just had a near-death experience.
“Wait!” Marie called after him and smiled softly. Her features were shining beautifully. “You should know what to say and what not to say, right?”
The security guard nodded and said flatteringly, “Those people can’t even watch their mouths. The only thing they know how to do is spread rumors and gossip. I’ll punish them when I get back so that they won’t spread rumors anymore.”
