Atrophy of Love: Mr. Harris, Stop Fooling Around! novel Chapter 464

Mr. Logan came in.

He looked at the mess on the floor and sighed. “Mr. Harris, someone is here to see you. May I know if now is a convenient time…”

“No.” Charles interrupted him before he could even finish his sentence and pointed at the door. “Get out.”

Although the alcohol was irritating his stomach, he still had no desire to put down the glass of wine.

Only the physical pain helped ease the agony in his chest.

Mr. Logan walked up to him and tried to pull him up, but failed. “All the gifts Ms. White received from her birthday party a while ago have been sold and all the funds are already donated. One of the people accepting it is Ms. Scarlett Griffin, the lady who gave you the jade pendant and letter.”

Charles took another swing of wine and frowned involuntarily as the wine scorched his throat.

“Ms. Scarlett Griffin is here to see you now, she says she has something important to tell you,” Mr. Logan continued.

Charles gave a loud burp before he threw the empty bottle aside. Then, he staggered up and tried to get himself another bottle of wine.

“She says it’s about Ms. White,” Mr. Logan said as he stared at Charles.

Charles immediately stopped in his tracks when he heard ‘Ms. White’. He blinked several times before he turned around slowly. “Let her in.”

Now that Charles had given him his consent, Mr. Logan let out a sigh of relief and left the room.

Not long after, he returned to the room. This time, with a nurse behind him pushing Sophia in a wheelchair.

The living room reeked of alcohol and the scent was so strong it was almost repulsive. Her heart winced as she looked at the empty bottles lying around the floor and slowly moved her gaze to Charles.

He sat on the floor, looking more disheveled than ever. His hair was a mess, just as if he had not washed it for a very long time, and he had grown out a beard. He was so unkempt he looked more like a thirty-year-old homeless tramp, rather than the young executive in his early twenties that he was.

Sophia knew how he had been, but when she saw it with her very own eyes, her chest felt so heavy she could barely breathe.

She turned her wheelchair toward him with great difficulty, and she tried to reach out to touch his face.

However, before her hand even got close to him, he looked up all of a sudden. She was met with his bloodshot eyes that were filled with menace and coldness, and the disgust in his eyes was undisguised as well.

Aside from Sophia, he had never liked any other women touching him.

Ever since the day Charles confessed his feelings to her, Sophia had never seen him look at her with those eyes. Her lips quivered as she suppressed the bitterness that surged through her chest and she quickly withdrew her hand.

“Speak now,” Charles said coldly as he turned away from her.

Sophia knew that he was only so cold toward her because he did not know that she was Sophia White, but even so, she could not help but feel bitter being treated like this.

“I heard from a friend that someone is trying to use Harris Corporation to launder money, that’s why I’m here to see you.”

She did not dare to speak too much in front of him. He was too smart and he might be able to notice something off easily.

Mr. Logan had been troubled by this incident as of recently. Upon hearing this, he could not hold back his question. “You…”

However, Charles interrupted him as soon as he spoke. “I have wasted so much manpower and resources and I haven’t been able to find anything. Yet, you just happened to hear this from a friend?”

He looked straight at Sophia’s face that was tightly bandaged and fixed his piercing gaze on her.

Sophia felt her chest become heavy under his frosty gaze and her eyes glimmered. “What a coincidence.”

“Heh,” Charles sneered.

A coincidence?

Or did she have ulterior motives?
