Atrophy of Love: Mr. Harris, Stop Fooling Around! novel Chapter 482

One was dead now so there were four more to go.

Charles and ‘Sophia’ did not dare to even move.

If they simply moved now, they might expose themselves easily, and if they were not careful enough, they could be in immediate danger.

Mr. Zellner’s subordinates were the ones getting nervous. They had to kill Charles and ‘Sophia’ before the police came. Otherwise, it would be almost impossible for them to do anything once the police arrived!

Amidst the screams and panicking footsteps, there were a few footsteps sounds that were particularly distinct because of how steady and composed they sounded.

‘Sophia’ turned around, and just as he was just about to ask Charles to get ready, Charles had already given him a hand signal that was generally used in combat, motioning to him to move now so they could outflank the enemies from both sides.

He was surprised that a businessman like Charles would know this!

‘Sophia’ suppressed the shock that rose in his chest and nodded. With that, the two of them darted out at the same time, and within seconds, they eliminated three of them with just a few shots. However, those three did not go down easily, and Charles and ‘Sophia’ suffered a few gunshot wounds.

Not far away, a woman in a bright pink mink coat was standing next to a Porsche, holding her phone recording the entire scene as she shouted at the top of her lungs——

“Someone’s dead! They killed someone!”

‘Sophia’, “...”

He turned to Charles. “How can someone still be on their phone recording at a time like this? Mr. Harris, do you think she’s bold or just plain stupid? If Mr. Zellner’s men weren’t dead, she would have been killed because of how shrill her voice is! Don’t you agree with me?”

Charles did not respond. Instead, he handed the gun to ‘Sophia’ as he stared blankly into the distance.

“What are you looking at?” ‘Sophia’ followed his gaze and saw a woman with scars all over her face standing not far away, and she was staring back at them as well.

Under the dim light, he could barely make out her face, aside from the sparkly beads that brimmed the edges of her eyes. They seemed like… tears.

Worried that she would become a burden if she followed her brother to find Charles, Sophia contacted the Cox family instead.

Since Mr. Zellner’s side had the impression that their people had taken her, it was time to use this knowledge to their advantage, and she got Charles’ maternal grandfather and his uncles together on the phone to discuss a plan:

Borrow Megan’s black Volkswagen and get someone to pretend to be Sophia, then have three other military personnel to hurry over to save Charles.

They had plenty of talents in the troop, and coincidentally, one of them was good in voice imitation. It was a plus point that he was almost at Sophia’s height too, so he was best suited to stand in as Sophia. They elected another three reliable men and then set off to see Mr. Zellner right away.

The three of them did not put on any disguises so there was a high risk of them being exposed, and so Sterling suggested to the uncles that they arrange for a team to stand by outside the building.

As long as they noticed anything happening inside, they would be able to rush inside and do something. Fortunately, luck was on their side. Mr. Zellner barely noticed the three of them, nor did he realize that ‘Sophia’ was just a stand-in.

Everything that happened after went smoothly according to plan.

However, Sophia had no clue what was going on over at their side. She was worried that she would become a liability for Charles, but at the same time, she could not just sit around and do nothing.

The instant she had confirmation that things were more settled over on their side, she requested Charles’s uncle to bring her over to the scene.

When she got out of the car, the first thing she saw was Charles covered in blood, and she was unable to tell where was he shot.

Sophia gaped at him. She wanted to ask him if he was alright, but the words seemed to be stuck in her throat.

She broke free of Sterling’s grasp and stumbled toward Charles. A thick metallic scent of blood rushed into her nose and tears began flowing down her cheek almost uncontrollably.

“Don’t cry, it doesn’t hurt.” Charles furrowed his brows when he saw her tears and cautiously reached his hand out to wipe her tears away.

The wounds on her face were not completely healed yet and they would certainly hurt if tears flowed in.
