"Let me out of here." Sophia was upset and wanted to get out.
However, Megan grabbed her arm and asked her forlornly, "My boyfriend thinks I'm dirty and doesn't want me anymore. Do you think I'm dirty too?"
"No." Sophia then repeated. "Let me out of here."
Megan held on, her eyes red. "Do you think I want to get to know Mr. Harris, Ms. Jones, and Mr. White through you? So you think I'm a snob and don't want to be my friend anymore?"
Sophia looked at her, frowning a little. However, she said nothing.
"I lost my boyfriend and my friend. I'm a real failure as a human being." Megan let her go with a wry smile, unable to hide the loss and pain in her gaze.
She stopped pestering Sophia and lowered her head as she stepped aside.
"Just like you said, people are complicated. I've never asked my friends to be 100 percent nice to me. I just don't want them to hurt me." Sophia glanced at her and stepped out.
Megan raised her head immediately while her murky eyes glistening. "Am I still your friend, Sophia?"
Sophia got out the door with her wallet and phone. She did not answer.
It was almost 12 o 'clock. There were a lot of people and traffic on the road.
Sophia stood at the club entrance and looked around only to find that she had no idea where to go. She just wanted to stop arguing about the friend issue with Megan.
Were they friends? She could not tell.
Her phone vibrated.
‘I ordered takeout for you. It's all your favorite. I'll call you later. Don't go running around!’
It was from her brother.
Sophia stood at the club entrance for more than ten minutes and got her takeout. She did not want to go back to the dormitory, so she booked a room to have a meal at a hotel near the club.
Under great pressure, even the most delicious food would lose its flavor.
Sophia only ate a few mouthfuls and could not eat anymore. She laid curled up on the bed in a daze.
"!" She suddenly remembered that she forgot the sexy lingerie and sat up. Her brother said he had prepared it for her, but she was not reassured by his usual careless ways.
Sophia got up, straightened her clothes, and went to the local mall to buy Megan's favorite fried rice. Then, she went back to the dorm.
"Eat." Sophia put the takeout in front of Megan and went to her closet to get the gift box.
"I can't eat." Megan's eyes glinted at the sight of her favorite fried rice. Then, she looked at her and asked, "Are you going to… You know… Mr. Harris today?"
Sophia found the gift box too flashy and tore off its packaging. She put the three sets of lingerie in an unassuming bag. "Just eat some. Your ex-boyfriend already has another woman in his heart. He won't feel bad for you or regret it even if you torture yourself like this. You will be the only one who suffers."
She did not answer the latter question.
Megan tried not to ask, but after much hesitation, she said, "Sophia, you better not go. That plan won't work."
She bit her lip and said awkwardly, "I was hoping you'd owe me one. I didn't think much of it."
