Xion blinked almost as if caught in some spell. Once. Twice.

Xion made a strangled noise. His mind was a mess — images of Darius wooing him flashed so vividly that he wanted to jump under the covers and never emerge.

Darius feeding him sweets, carrying him when he was utterly exhausted, whispering who-knew-what into his ear with that sinfully sexy voice...

"Stop thinking nonsense," he hissed at himself, burying his burning face further into his knees.

But Darius heard that. Oh, he heard every little embarrassed grumble, and he leaned in closer.

"Tell me," Darius murmured by his ear with a low baritone, it almost sounded coaxing, "what ’nonsense’ are you thinking about?"

Xion whined — an actual, mortifying whimper — and smacked his head against his own knee. It hurt, and yet he didn’t dare look up.

"You’re evil," he accused the Archduke in a muffled voice.

That earned a soft, dangerous laugh. It was tempting enough that Xion dared to lift his eyelashes and peek at him.

Darius was toying lazily with strands of his soft hair, twirling them between his fingers. "Evil... yes, I am. And patient too, baby. I can wait."

Xion gulped to moisten his throat, silently willing his messy heart to stay still. "W-wait for what?"

"For you to fall for me."

The calm certainty in his tone made Xion’s heart skip so violently he was sure he might get a heart attack.

"I—" Xion opened his mouth but no words came out. He was drowning in the weight of Darius’s gaze, the tenderness in his voice, the way his presence wrapped around him like a second blanket.

He suddenly couldn’t breathe properly.

He didn’t know if he wanted to run away or crawl into Darius’s lap and shut that mouth that was making a mess of his brain.

Instead, he did the only thing his overwhelmed brain could manage.

He threw the pillow at Darius’ face.
