Kellen was whisked away by Rhys shortly after that. The Guides were happy to see them go, and promised to come and pester Kellen during their few days off before classes started up for them again. Kellen believed them as Rhys led him towards the elevators and up to their apartment.
Guides were nosy, and also liked to check up on others. Kellen was sure that he was going to be pestered about what he and Rhys got up to after this, even as Kellen felt his body rage. He wasn’t upset that Rhys stopped him. He would never be upset about that.
He was upset that the Esper had gotten him this worked up. Now he had all this energy, all this anger and nowhere for it to go. Kellen stood in the elevator with Rhys, silent, his head racing with thoughts that were too angry to say out loud. Other things he could have said to the Esper. Other comebacks he could have said.
He was sure that Rhys probably didn’t want to hear them.
The doors to the elevator opened and Rhys pulled Kellen closer, pressing a kiss against his temple before they stepped out of the elevator. Kellen was embarrassed as Rhys had his arm around his shoulder still, his grip tight and a smug look on his face.
"Hey Kellen?" Rhys asked as they got to the A Class gym floor. Unlike normal, there were a few Espers milling about outside of the gym and within hearing distance. Kellen didn’t pay much mind to it. Maybe they wanted a bit of privacy compared to the open concept of the gym?
"Yes, Rhys?" Kellen answered, his face already a little warm from the previous interactions. He was still worked up, honestly. He kind of wanted the Esper to charge at him so he could get a nice right hook in. For Sakura.
"When are you going to get me a nice collar to go with my leash?" Rhys asked. All conversations halted, every head snapping in Kellen and Rhys’ direction as Kellen gasped. Kellen snapped his head towards Rhys’ smug face, his yellow eyes dancing as he took in Kellen’s shocked expression. "Why do you look so surprised, sugar? Didn’t we discuss this before?" Rhys asked and Kellen had to not swallow his tongue.
Kellen had come to a stop, shock rooting his feet into place. He knew that he should keep moving, but this was something he hadn’t expected. From Rhys’ pleased, almost chuffed grin, that was the intention.
"Rhys Thatcher! You know better than to bring this up in front of everyone!" Kellen protested, far quieter than the way Rhys was speaking. Rhys laughed.
"Why? They all know I belong to you, and you kind of said no to rings, so...a collar seems fitting for a dog like me." He said happily while Kellen felt his mood shift. He turned, grabbing Rhys’ collar, the anger and adrenaline from before still riding him.
"You are not a dog." Kellen growled and Rhys let out a soft laugh, his eyes turning to gold.
"Oh? So am I a wolf? A beastie? What do you want me to be, Kellen? I promise, whatever it is, I’ll be a good boy." Kellen had no idea why he was behaving like this, but hearing those words from his lips made Kellen twitch. Something was stirring inside of Kellen, and whatever it was, he didn’t want it to happen around others. He wasn’t like Rhys. He liked to keep his things private.
"We will discuss this later." Kellen muttered, turning and tugging Rhys down the hall.
"I didn’t hear a no about the collar, or the ring idea. So? How are you going to mark me as yours?" Rhys asked and Kellen snapped a little.
"If you don’t shut up, I’m going to leave a bite mark." Kellen threatened and heard Rhys suck in.
"Oh. I like that. Make sure to sink your teeth in real deep, okay sugar? I want it to last forever." Kellen somehow made it to the other set of elevators and thankfully the doors opened right away. Kellen slammed the button for their floor, his face warm as Rhys remained next to him, all smiles and warm golden eyes.
"Rhys Thatcher," Kellen started.
