Feeling a bit better, Kellen shifted in the Captain’s lap. The Captain, noticing the shift, smiled, and with a smooth motion, changed his position so that Kellen was sitting flush against his stomach, his legs on either side. Blushing at the intimate position, Kellen met the warm, glowing gaze of the man below him and a wave of emotion washed over him. How did he earn this man as his pair? He was too nice to him.
"C-Captain, what did you mean by your previous statement?" Kellen asked softly, and the Captain smiled at the younger man. The Captain had a feeling that until Kellen formed long lasting affection for him, he’d be answering this quiet concern until the end of time.
"Well, I had plans to tempt you into the Guild with the Field Guide instructor position. After that I was going to offer you an apartment in the tower, slowly getting closer and closer to you, until we were finally alone and then I would seduce you into a kiss. And then another, and another. Until you couldn’t see or feel anyone but me." His grin was a little wicked when he met Kellen’s gaze again. "All of my carefully put together plans were blown out of the water the second you began guiding me in your retest. I knew that I should have let your hand go, but I simply couldn’t. I’d let myself go too long without guiding, and you were just so...your guiding has a certain calming effect on others, and I couldn’t ignore that." Kellen was surprised to hear that. No one had made any concrete comments about his guiding before, outside of him and Hill recently. Maybe that came with the Class jump? "After you woke up after I ruined your life and plans, I realised mine were also in tatters. Still, when they handed me the results of our test, it took everything I had in me to force myself to stay away from you." He chuckled. "I have...an advantage over most S Classes. It’s a blessing and a curse, but because of it I thought I had escaped most S Class traits. The ones that make society scared of us. But when I stared down at that piece of paper that told me you were mine? I knew I was just as much of a crazy S Class Esper like everyone else." The Captain’s grip on him tightened, pulling them closer and Kellen could feel the outline of him against his crotch. His eyes widened, but he kept his mouth shut. "I never want to let you go. I don’t know if I ever could. You are everything I’ve ever wanted in my life, Kellen Woods, and I did my best to give you a chance to run away. But you came back to me kicking and clawing your way into my heart that was already wide open for you. You even called me a coward for trying to protect you from me. If I hadn’t been hopelessly in love with you since you kicked a rock at me in the forest 7 years ago, I would have fallen in love again at that moment." Stunned, Kellen had no idea what to say. As the Captain continued to speak, Kellen could feel his cheeks heating until it wrapped around his neck and up to his ears. The Captain only seemed to be soft and warm, not really affected by the words coming out of his mouth. As if admitting what he had was no big deal. Then, Kellen realised what he had said at the end, and grew flustered.
"That was an accident!" He protested, and the Captain laughed.
"That’s what you took away from what I said?" Looking at the flushed cheeks, trembling hands, and bright eyes that wouldn’t meet his gaze, the Captain knew that Kellen had heard everything. He knew that seducing Kellen was going to take a long time. Good. It would be unfortunate if it took a short amount of time. "What should I have hoped for? I knew romancing you was going to take a while." He sounded disheartened, but when his gaze met Kellen’s, his eyes were sparkling. They reminded Kellen of gold coins. "I know what you did was an accident. You had such a horrified look on your face when you realised what you had done, and then you ran away into the forest like a startled deer. For the briefest of moments I thought you had been a fairy sent specifically for me." It was the actual original meeting of the two. Kellen had repressed it since it caused him so much embarrassment.
He’d probably been about 4 months on the front lines, maybe six. It was so long ago that the dates were a little fuzzy. What wasn’t fuzzy was the anger, frustration, and fear that had filled him. He was a new Field Guide, was struggling to get contracts, and he still had that giant chip on his shoulder. It didn’t help that at the time the Field Guides were quite cliquey, and anyone who was new had to prove themselves. The frustration had finally welled up inside of him, and after not getting another contract and being laughed at, he’d gone to take a walk into the woods. Kellen hadn’t wanted to give up on his job so soon. He’d barely had a chance to prove himself as capable. To himself, or to others like he craved. Angry, and fueled by a deep self-loathing, he had kicked a rock exceptionally hard at a tree and it had flown past it. He had heard someone curse and Kellen had frozen. He moved towards the voice only to find a topless Captain Rhys Thatcher of the Saturn Guild.
The Captain had been holding a weapon of some kind, which later Kellen learned was his favourite weapon. It was a long sword that he called Baby. That was of little concern to the Kellen of that time, since he was faced with an even greater threat. The Captain had been topless, covered in sweat, hair messy, and his eyes glowing like a demon. It was clear he had been working out alone, away from others, and somehow Kellen had found him. The Captain had looked....good then. He wasn’t as toned as he was now, but he had been mouthwateringly attractive. His hair had been shorter, and his eyes just as yellow as they had always been. The pants he wore hung low on his hips, showing off his whole upper body. The band of his underwear had been poking out as well. The only imperfection Kellen could remember about the time was the small red wound on his chest. From the rock Kellen had just kicked.
If Kellen was honest with himself, he didn’t remember what happened after that. A wave of fear had engulfed him after he’d realised what he had done. He had worried he was going to be punished, especially since it was the CAPTAIN OF THE SATURN GUILD and he was just a little guy. The new kid on the block. It was of note that shortly after that he got his first contract with the Nemesis Guild, and after completing that contract successfully, his name took off. He also started avoiding the Captain as much as possible after that. He had worried originally that the Captain was going to punish him, and for some reason it had morphed into being uncomfortable around him. Huh. He had forgotten the original reason until the Captain had brought up that he remembered him.
Kellen stared at the man as he recalled their first meeting, and his cheeks tinged pink, before he frowned at him. "Captain, fairies don’t exist." He stated and the Captain broke into a wide smile.
"Oh? But did you know something, Kellen? Even back then you were my type." Kellen wasn’t sure how to respond to that, and the Captain continued. "I had thought that my type was a little on the extreme side, until I met you." Confused, Kellen tilted his head slightly to the side, much to the Captain’s enjoyment.
"What do you mean? I’m completely normal." He said and the Captain chuckled.
"Of course you are, for the average civilian or Esper maybe. But as a Guide, you are an exception to almost every rule. Do you remember what you were wearing when you ran into me in the forest?" Of course he didn’t. It was so long ago. He shook his head. "You were wearing all black, your hair was a little longer than you have it now, and you had a bruise on your cheek. I don’t know if you were aware, but your shirt at the time was a little see through. When I saw you for the first time, peeking around a tree, the light caught you at such an angle that it looked like I was seeing through your clothes to your rippling abs and tight muscles. I was speechless. I didn’t chase you because I thought you weren’t real. A mirage." Kellen scoffed. His heart was pounding in his chest, and he was desperate to cover that sound up. He was sure the Captain could pick up on it with his heightened hearing, but he was begging that he wasn’t going to make a comment on it.
"T-That’s ridiculous. You were topless at the time, and you don’t see me making a comment about your rippling abs and tight muscles." The Captain’s grin widened and Kellen immediately felt like he’d fucked up.
