Arwen’s hands remained in mid-air, holding the chocolate while she blinked at Aiden, who stood by the door, staring at her as if he had caught her red-handed.
Even though Arwen was not guilty, under his gaze like that, she felt like she was caught stealing.
"What?" she asked, defensive. "Why are you looking at me like that?"
Aiden raised his brow at his defensive tone. His eyes slowly darted to her hands before zeroing in on the chocolate. "What are you having?" he asked.
"Chocolate," she said, not holding any breath of hesitation. "And I didn’t steal it. So don’t look at me like that."
Aiden walked in, taking his steps to her side. Reaching her, his eyes settled on the familiar golden box of chocolates that he had seen at Granna’s place. ’Of course, you are not stealing,’ he muttered under his breath and Arwen grunted, clearing her throat again.
"Of course," she said, before looking the box on her lap. "I got this from Granna, remember."
He nodded. But his brows soon tugged in a frown. "But why are you having it now? Didn’t you just complete your breakfast?"
"I did," she replied but then reasoned. "But who said I can’t have chocolate after having breakfast? I like these very much and it’s almost a ritual to have them every day."

"Ritual?" Aiden asked, bringing his gaze back to her face. This time a bit amused at her choice of words.
But Arwen seemed very sure of her words. She didn’t hold it any longer and put the chocolate in her mouth in one go. Letting the familiar flavor hit her senses, she hummed in delight, nodding. "Yes," she began. "It has become a ritual over the years. I will always begin my day with this, having one just after breakfast." As she said that, a warm smile settled on her lips.
Aiden stared at her, mesmerized. At that moment, he caught the glimpse of the little Arwen that he always had in his memories, vivid and clear. "Are they so good?" she asked, before sitting on the bed across from her.
"These chocolates?" Arwen asked as if to confirm it once with him. And when she saw him nodding, she nodded with confidence. "Of course, they are the best. Every year Granna bring me these. One big stock for the whole year. If she isn’t coming, she will send me these through someone. But I will be having them always."
Aiden nodded as his gaze once again went back to the box, thinking something.
However, when Arwen saw him eyeing it, she quickly hid it away. "Don’t even think that, Mr. Winslow," she said. "Even though I have a lot, I am not going to share it with you. They are my favorites and I am very stingy when it comes to these. So, please don’t ask for them."
"Well," Arwen shrugged. "You were just eyeing them, so I thought —" ƒгeewёbnovel.com
