Arwen was in her car, driving to her office when she heard her phone beeping with a notification. Unlocking it, when she checked, a warm smile spread across her lips.
It was Aiden. He had sent her an image of his breakfast, quoting, "I won’t lose the deal."
[Fighting!] She replied to him back before going back to click the image. The food looked fine.
"Good that he is finally getting serious about his meals," she muttered, closing the chat. She checked the time back on her watch and then asked, "Alfred, how long will it take?" She noticed that they weren’t heading through the familiar road.
"Madam, there is some construction work going on our usual route, so I decided to take this route today. This will take time but we won’t get late," Alfred politely informed.
Arwen nodded.
They drove through the road, and while Arwen casually scrolled through her mails.
Meanwhile …
Back at Winslow Estate, after finishing breakfast, Gianna rushed back to her room.
One reason why she had to run was because she left her phone in the room itself, and without it, she wouldn’t be able to make the call.
The moment she entered the room, she rushed towards the bed to grab her phone. Her fingers curled around the device as she glanced up with some thought before unlocking her phone and going straight to dial a number.
The call was connected immediately and just after a few rings, it was also answered.
"Gina, sweetheart, you called?" a man spoke through the other end, and Gianna closed her eyes, feeling slightly guilty.
"Dad," she sighed. "I know I should have called you but I didn’t get the time. I —"
"It’s okay, dear," he said, his voice as loving as Gianna had always remembered. "As long as I get to hear my princess’s voice, I don’t mind anything else. Tell me, how everything is going? Did you have any plans of coming back home?"
He asked, and even though Gianna felt a bit impatient, she held her calm and reciprocated her Dad as best as she could. She loved her father a lot. She can’t bear to hurt him even the slightest.
"Although I want to see you badly, I might not be able to make a trip anytime soon," she said, adding, "I just returned to Cralens after spending more than an entire month on a workshop. There is a lot of work pending for me to do."
"You don’t have to work so hard, Gina," Osian said, her tone as serious as it could be. "Who am I working so hard for? It’s of course for you. As long as Dad is around, you won’t lack anything. You have enjoyed staying at home and being our princess."
Gianna didn’t seem at all surprised at those words. Instead, a smile curled up her lips. "Dad, you know I won’t enjoy that life," she said, taking a deep breath. "I enjoy doing my own things. I have grown up enough to learn and discover my way of living the world. Going back home and staying protected behind your shield will not make me satisfied, you know right?"
"But Dad misses you, dear," Osian said, sounding truly like a weak father who was longing to see his daughter.
Gianna felt bad. Pressing her lips in a thin line, she said, "And I miss you too. Fine," she halted, her tone shifting more towards a determined version. "I will see if I can make a short trip home."
"Great!" Osian’s voice at once sounded better. "That’s like my daughter!"
"But Dad," Gianna interrupted. "Even if I come home, I won’t stay there for long. It would be even probably less than a week. So, leather when I arrive, don’t play any tricks. Okay?"
