Vespera raised an eyebrow after securing the target. She had a rough idea of what Jordan was planning to try on Dominic. 

Dominic walked over to the couch where Jordan’s friends were seated. Vespera stayed back, thinking it would be inappropriate for a secretary to drink her boss‘ fill at a wine–tasting session. 

It occurred to her that she might attract unwanted attention. She had no intention of becoming the 11th woman on Jordan’s list. 

If his friends tried anything on her, it would be hard to retaliate. She couldn’t exactly hit them with a wine bottle. And even if Dominic helped her in time, she’d still be the one getting the short end of the stick. 

Tonight, her focus was clear–she needed to stay alert and prevent anyone from spiking Dominic’s drink. 

After scanning the area, she found the perfect spot. It gave her a clear view of the entire hall without drawing attention or raising suspicion. 

In the center of the hall, couches were arranged in a circle with coffee tables in the middle. Jordan wanted Dominic to sit beside him, but Dominic chose a single–seater instead. Clearly, he wanted them to stay away from him. 

Jordan looked taken aback but quickly recovered, and sat diagonally across from Dominic. A spot that was easy for him to strike up a conversation. 

The others had also moved closer to Dominic, attempting to make small talk and possibly form a connection with him. To their disappointment, he barely responded. He was even fiddling with his phone. 

They silently acknowledged the image of the heir of the Tavian Group. He was arrogant and treated them as if they were a speck of dust. 

Vespera scof | at their attempts to win his favor. These people couldn’t even compare to her 

boss. 

Turning her attention away, she saw Serena back pouring more wine. One of the men took the chance to grope her butt with a vile look on his face. 

Serena remained unbothered, smiling coquettishly at the man. She appeared entirely composed, but Vespera could detect a hint of distaste beneath her poised demeanor. 

Sighing internally, Vespera locked her gaze on the man who’d groped Serena. Despite his position in high society, he acted like an animal and resembled one too. 

When she shifted her attention back to Dominic, Serena was refilling his drink. He thanked

her, a simple act of courtesy, but Vespera noticed Serena’s momentary surprise. 

“You’re welcome,” Serena said, her smile now sincere and elegant. 

The change in Serena’s demeanor struck Vespera. She realized that the small gesture, one of respect, meant a lot to her. 

To Jordan, Serena was just a toy for his guests. But Dominic’s respect for her as a person had clearly touched Serena. 

“Mr. Reid, this is one of my most treasured wings. I only opened it for you. It’s now ready to 

be tasted. Please, give, 

a try,” Jordan said, raising his glass. His words sounded sincere, but his sinister smile and calculating gaze betrayed any hint of friendliness. 

Dominic took a glass, observed the wine’s color and sniffed it. Then, he took a sip. 

“It’s not bad,” he said flatly. 

The rest of the group had been ready to lay it on thick with their praise for the wine, especially the four “elite members“. One of them, an artist, had even planned to paint on the spot to show his appreciation.
