Chapter 189
Dominic said nothing.
Vespera was also silent, thinking, “Now that’s some serious business drive.”
Rebecca tilted her head and quietly rolled her eyes before turning back and declaring with theatrical sincerity. “Ms. Kinsman is merciful, full of boundless compassion! You are truly blessed!”
Claire thanked her a thousand times over as she hurried to receive the rosary beads.
Miranda said earnestly, “Mrs. Sowle, remember, faith is everything.”
“I understand.” Claire nodded quickly and slipped the rosar
beads around her neck. She handed over a massive faith offering, then walked out covered in ash and pig’s blood.
They scheduled another session for the following week, and Miranda promised to “think of more ways” to help her.
They had really found the goose that laid the golden egg.
Vespera watched Claire leave and muttered under her breath, “Is it too late to switch careers?”
Dominic remained silent.
Next door, Rebecca took off her veil, revealing a sharp, elegant face. “Ms. Kinsman, my idea was way better than the stuff you usually come up with. You made a killing today.”
Miranda opened her eyes.
So, she wasn’t blind after all.
“Not bad. Ms. Snyder, you’ve got real talent. Ever think of joining me full–time? We split everything 50:50,” Miranda said.
“I’ve got talent for everything. But I prefer using it to fight for justice, protect the weak, you
know?”
“That’s fine. I love money, you love justice, and we each get what we want. Do whatever you like–I just want the cash.”
“Pleasure doing business with you.”
While the two top–tier spiritual experts were still talking shop, Dominic quietly pulled Vespera out of the room and back into the waiting area.
They had just sat down and hadn’t even had a chance to speak when Belle appeared at the door. “You four, it’s your turn now. Please come with me.”
Chapter 189
Vespera looked at the others as if to ask, “Are we really doing this?”
Dominic gave her a calm, easy smile. “Lead the way.”
Since he had agreed, no one else dared object. Might as well see the show through to the end.
The four of them followed Belle. They thought they were heading back to the same room as before, but no. It turned out the location had changed.
It made sense. That place had just been trashed. There was no way it was ready for clients again.
The new room was smaller, with a more elegant and minimalist vibe.
Miranda sat alone behind an offering table, but Rebecca was nowhere to be seen.
The four of them took their seats.
“So, what would you all like to ask about?” Miranda gave them a gentle, mysterious smile.
Vespera was about to ask something random just to pass the time. Her mouth had barely opened when a smooth, low voice cut in beside her–polite, warm, and laced with a smile.
“Love and marriage.”
Vespera, Yasmine, and Calvert all froze, stunned into silence. They whipped their heads around to stare at Dominic like he’d just grown a second head, equal parts awe and horror.
