“Exactly.” Aurora nodded in agreement
“The way Joseph acted, thinking I’d perish without him. He should’ve looked in the mirror first.”
“You…” Lucas shook his head helplessly, his eyes filled with indulgence.
“Your tongue really can cut deep.”
“I’m just tell
just telling the truth,” Aurora retorted stubbornly.
“Am I wrong? I can only blame myself for my past bad judgment.”
Lucas didn’t respond further, simply focusing on driving.
The silence filled the car again, broken only by their quiet breathing.
Suddenly, an urgent knocking sound shattered the peaceful atmosphere inside the car.
Startled, Aurora quickly turned her head toward the window, only to see Joseph standing outside, his face twisted with rage as he
pounded furiously on the glass.
Oh god, Joseph?
What was he doing here?

Chapter 28
Aurora glanced nervously at Lucas, who returned a look as if urging her not to run away, but to confront the situation directly.
Gathering her courage, she reluctantly lowered the window and stared at Joseph in confusion. “Joseph, do you need something?”
Joseph’s eyes fell upon Lucas in the car, momentarily stunned, then his expression twisted into something even uglier.
He scrutinized Lucas up and down, but due to the poor lighting in the parking lot, he could only make out the man’s vague profile.
Joseph turned to Aurora, his tone dripping with mockery. “Aurora Walton, you’ve already found yourself a new sugar daddy so soon? No wonder you dared speak to me like that at the banquet. Turns out you’ve latched onto someone wealthy!”
Judy quickly echoed, “Aurora, even if you’re a broke student desperate for money, at least find yourself someone decent. This guy
doesn’t look like much.“”
Aurora felt anger surge to her head instantly.
She gave Joseph and Judy a freezing glare, her voice icy
cold as she responded, “Joseph Hunt, are you out of your mind?
“Who I’m with is none of your business. And you, Judy Moore, watch what you say–one day your mouth will get you into
trouble.”
Without hesitation, Aurora raised the window, refusing to spare them another glance.
Seeing this, Lucas instructed the driver to start the car, slowly pulling away from the parking lot.
Watching the car disappear into the distance, Joseph’s face darkened with fury.
He violently kicked a nearby trash bin, shouting angrily, “Aurora Walton, just you wait–I’ll make you pay for this!”
Beside him, Judy offered insincere comfort. “Joseph, don’t get upset. Maybe she’s just trying to provoke you.
“Provoke me?” Joseph laughed bitterly.
“Does she really think pulling this stunt will make me crawl back to her? She’s delusional!”
Inside the car, Aurora was still fuming.
She took a deep breath, trying to regain her composure.
Joseph’s venomous comments lingered uncomfortably, like a fishbone lodged in her throat.
She discreetly glanced at Lucas, who appeared perfectly calm, focused on his phone, seemingly unaffected by Joseph’s remarks.
“Um…. about what Joseph just said–please don’t take it seriously,” Aurora began cautiously, choosing her words carefully.

“He’s just crazy, always talking nonsense.

Lucas chuckled softly and reached out, gently patting Aurora’s hand.
“I know.”

His touch was warm and reassuring, wrapping around her slightly cold fingers and sending a comforting warmth through her.
“Really?” Aurora was still a bit uneasy.
