Selene softly rubbed Orion’s head. "She seems heavily wounded, both physically and mentally. Give her some time to open up to you. It might take a while."

The maids began serving them their food.

Eldric suddenly changed the topic. "Lad, when are you going to enter the academy? The entrance tests are ongoing right now."

Orion’s eyes lit up—this was what he had been waiting for. "Really? When can I enter?"

"Woah, woah, slow down there, lad," he laughed, looking at Orion’s eagerness. "You can go there whenever you want. You’ll have to take the test, though—the dean wants to see how talented you really are. So just go wild."

Orion quickly calmed down. "What will the test be? History of the Thunderpeak Kingdom? Or my aptitude?"

Selene took over the conversation. "Well, you’ll know once you go there, but it won’t be anything written like kingdom history. What’s even the use of that? You won’t be taught something so useless unless you specifically ask for it."
