This time, Sylas planned to hold nothing back. He used up the third and final usage of Planar Convergence Gate without the slightest hesitation.
The instant he did, there was a new and sudden surge of Aether and the entire situation
changed.
General Song was in complete shock. Seeing the gate appear, he suddenly realized that from the very beginning, everything had been triggered by Sylas.
This gate and the one on the Great Celestial Wall were identical!
The tide of beasts split in two, and suddenly the perimeter that had protected General Song near the back of the army was compromised as a large number of beasts began to divert their attention to this Gate instead.
However, Sylas had already reached out another green hand formed of his Will into the cage and touched the Basilisk King.
The two master and beast didn't exchange a word, but Sylas wasn't blind. He could see the injuries on his body. It was just that Sylas didn't have it in him to have the usual sentimental response... not for a beast, at least.
That said, he could recognize those blade marks, and even if he had no sentimental, emotional attachment to the Basilisk King... what he did feel was that the Basilisk King was one of his keys to become strong enough in the future to break Earth free of its predicament... to become strong enough to truly control his own life.
Anyone who threatened him in this way had to die.
Sylas took a leap backward after the Basilisk King vanished and entered the portal. From start to finish, he didn't look at Morgan more than once.
"After him!" General Song roared furiously. He realized that Sylas wasn't trying to target him at all, he just wanted to get his beast and escape.
They had made the wrong play. It seemed that Sylas only cared about the beast and didn't care about Morgan. It was even likely that Morgan had been tricked just like the rest of them had been. After all, Morgan's explanation was perfectly sound.

Sylas appeared in a familiar Evergreen forest. He looked toward one direction and found the System City in the not-too-far-off distance. It was all well in his calculation.
His gaze flashed as Darla, Paul, General Song, and a surge of other Celestial Republic soldiers were sent flying into the forest as well. Without hesitation, he turned and ran.
The location of the gate wasn't ideal, and he had been flung away from the city. If he tried to run toward the city now for support, he would end up surrounded by the large number of men and women that were now coming after him.
Seemingly without a choice, Sylas pulled out his Blue Cyclone Horse. Blood fell from his shoulder in waves and his Speed seemed to have hit rock bottom.
A chase began through the forest and Sylas only seemed to be growing weaker.
However, all of a sudden, he came to a stop.
The horse beneath him vanished and he landed on the ground. He stared out into seemingly blank space before his head snapped in a certain direction.
This was exactly what he was waiting for.
