Chapter 168 – Devote yourself to me
Christelle was stunned. Truly stunned.
She never thought a man could be this handsome. And even if she had imagined it, she would’ve sworn that kind of beauty was reserved for divine beings—untouchable, distant, not something walking into her church like it belonged there.
But that begged the question—
Who the hell is this man?
She didn’t even need to ask. Noah had a habit. Every time he met someone new, he introduced himself.
What a gentleman he was.
Always polite. Always composed.
So—
"I’m Noah Vaelgrim," he said softly, "a dear friend of your son."
He smiled.
And to Christelle, that smile was like looking straight into the sun.
Too bright. Too holy. Too blinding.
Too...perfect.
"Nice to meet you, Christelle."
His voice pulled her out of the fog. She blinked and stared at him properly this time.
And that’s when her brain clicked.
That face... it was familiar.
He’d just said he was her son’s friend. But now the memory came back. All the things Elijah had said. All the names he’d cursed.
Her eyes widened. "You... You’re Noah Weaverheart. My son’s rival and his enemy."
"You’re not his friend," she said. Her voice started unsure, but by the time the sentence ended, it was firm. Cold.
Noah tilted his head. "Rival is a such a big word. And ’enemy’? What a joke." He scoffed.
"But let’s not waste time talking about him."
He floated up and sat down casually in midair, like gravity had no hold on him.
Christelle blinked in confusion.
"Oh," Noah waved lazily, "just a space chair. You can’t see it. Don’t worry about it."
Christelle took a small step back, her instincts kicking in.
If he really was her son’s enemy, he couldn’t be here for anything good.
Noah noticed the shift. But he didn’t comment. He didn’t need to.
He went straight to the point.
"You’ve seen the new ruler of the Human Domain," he said with a proud smile. "Sophie Castria. My wife."
Christelle’s heart started to sank.
"And the Church?" he continued. "Run by Solaris and Elizabeth. One is my woman, the other my subordinate."
That’s when Christelle started trembling.
She wasn’t brave, but she was smart. She’d lived in the filth long enough to read between the lines. And what she was seeing now?
Was devastating.
Noah’s tone didn’t change. Calm. Controlled. Unbothered.
"You should know by now that the Human Domain belongs to me. Bloodhearts, Shadowbounds—they’re mine too. The Stonehearts? They won’t help you. Not after what Elijah did to their young mistress."
"And if they dare? Well....they will regret that act very very dearly."
He smiled. Innocent. Almost playful.
"Do I really need to explain what that means for you?"
Christelle swallowed hard. "W-What... what do you want from me?"
Her voice cracked. Shaky. Small.
Because if what he said was true, then not only was she fucked...
Her son was doomed too.
Noah didn’t flinch.
"What I want is simple."
He stepped forward, closing the space between them until his face was just an inch from hers. Then he leaned in.
