Adam had always been a decisive man, especially at his age. There was no room for shyness or hesitation when it came to going after what he wanted.
Even though things weren't quite what he expected, he quickly made up his mind about what he wanted to do.
Surely, he was straightforward enough to leave Thalia stunned and speechless.
And it wasn't just her—Shannon, who had stepped out to help Thalia out of the awkward situation, was also caught off guard.
Her dad from the alternate world wasn't even mad about being treated like a stand-in and didn't seem to mind at all. He genuinely was set on her mother.
This whole situation had become all the more complicated.
Shannon glanced over at Thalia, almost like saying, "I don't know what to do about this."
Honestly? Thalia felt the same way, too. She was at a dead end, unsure how to convince him to drop the idea.
Perhaps her look of conflict was so hard to miss that Adam decided not to push for an answer. Instead, he stated, "I'll be staying in this neighbourhood from now on."
He pointed at a building two villas down. "That's my place. If you decide to talk, you can drop by anytime. And if you run into any trouble, I'm here as well."
With that, he didn't linger or argue. He politely bid his farewell and turned to head back to his own Moonridge villa.
Thalia watched him leave, feeling a bit dizzy, then closed the door and went back inside with Shannon.
By the big floor-to-ceiling window of the villa, Lexie and the others were huddled together to watch the spectacle.
When they saw the two return, they nonchalantly slipped back to the dining room to continue their unfinished breakfast.
Thalia didn't mention anything about Adam's visit, but Lexie and the others couldn't hide their urge for gossip. Since she was the youngest, she hesitated to speak up and poked the porcelain doll instead.
Velquin's seniority was technically higher than Louise's, so he felt free to ask bluntly, "They want to know what you're thinking. Will you accept him for now?"
