Chapter 31
Although Luna had long known Wyatt was a petty man under his chivalrous exterior, hearing what Jade said still left her deeply shaken.
As it turned out, it wasn’t even her fault that she had no close friends in her previous life.
Luna took a deep breath. “So, you think I must have badmouthed you to Wyatt, which is why he misunderstood you, thinking you’re arrogant and you bullied me?
“And you assumed I liked him because of what he said at the end?”
Talia nodded. “I was with Jade that day. If Jade hadn’t stopped me, I would have come to you right away to ask what happened. When has Jade ever been arrogant? And when has she ever bullied you? Why would you say those things about her in front of Wyatt? What are you up to?”
Nicole gasped in surprise at those words. “You should have just asked Luna back then. Maybe it would have avoided all the misunderstandings later.”
Jade took a deep breath and looked up at Luna. “So, you really never badmouthed me in front of Wyatt? Wait, what? You don’t like him?”
“No!” Luna shook her head. “When I first met you, you bought gifts for everyone in the dorm and treated us to meals. I knew it was all because of me.
“I’m not that heartless. I remember everything you’ve done for me, and I’m really grateful for it. I even told Wyatt that I must have been blessed to have met you. Meeting him felt like I had used up all my luck in this life. Both of you are such good people.
“I remember he even asked me in detail what you did for me. I told him the truth, and I believe I never said a word to slander you.”
Furrowing her brows, Nicole suggested, “Do you think maybe Wyatt misunderstood? After all, he’s a straightforward guy. Could he have misunderstood without realizing it?”
“No, it’s not like that.” Talia pursed her lips. Then, she shot a disapproving look at Luna. Either you’re lying, or Wyatt deliberately humiliated Jade!
“Why would he want to humiliate Jade, though Before she confessed to him, he only knew about her from you, right?”
Luna realized she couldn’t explain this clearly. “I don’t know why Wyatt would say that to Jade, but don’t put words in my mouth, either. My conscience is clear, so believe what you will.
“However, there’s one thing I want to tell you all I’m leaving Professor Hanley’s team because I insisted on investigating the similarities between Mia’s paper and mine.
“Then, this issue suddenly spread like wildfire on the campus forum, and everyone started claiming that Mia plagiarized my paper.
Chapter 31
“Professor Hanley thought I was making a big fuss and embarrassing him because Mia and I are his students. He also believes that his students would never plagiarize.
“The seniors also believed Mia couldn’t have plagiarized and thought I was intentionally targeting her. They asked me to apologize to her and drop the investigation.
