I stayed with Nien for a few days after finding mit about Julian and Nuu, and my baby, Nien is good to me. He let me be by myself, giving me food, detting me be said on my own, stabdling me to sleep. 

Today, I decided to do something nice for him. I woke up early to make him breakfast before he goes to work. I brew some coffee, and am beating the egs to make Trench toast, when he comes to the kitchen, all dressed for work. 

“Why are you wonking?” He asks, “Youre pregnant.” 

I giggle. “I still new. I thought Fil make you breakfast, You’ve been so nice to me all these days.” 

He states at me blankly. “So? You don’t need to pay me hack like this or something.” He walks towards me, planting a kiss on my forehead, Thank you, though, Ginny 

Nico goes and pours himself some coffee, and sits down on the dining table. I flip two pieces of toast on a plate along with some banana foster sauce, and keep it in front of him. He digs in 

“Are you free today?” He a 

Ihod. “Sure, why? 

“I’m going to make a gynor appointment for you. I’ll get home early from work, and take you.” 

Tve been thinking of that, too, I say. “You don’t have to do that, though. I’ll go myself.” 

“Of course not. You think I’d let you drive while you’re pregnant.” 

I roll my eyes. “Nico, pregnant woman drive all the time. I’ll be fine. You dont need to baby me.” 

I always saw Nico as a boy. Because, he somehow does have that boyish charm. After all, he’s only twenty three. Today, he looks…older, somehow. So mature, even while eating his breakfast, a hard look on his face. He looks up at me. 

*Im only protecting you, Ginny.” He cuts into his French toast and offers a bite to me, I bend down and eat from the fork, chewing slowly. 

“You don’t need to protect me.” I whisper. 

“You’re not doing this alone. Not if 1 can do anything about it.” He stands up, taking his empty plate to the kitchen. I follow behind him, watching him take a drink of 

water. “Eat breakfast properly, okay? And lunch. Snack on a fruit. I think I’ve got oranges. I’ll pick you up around 5, okay?” 

1 nod. He smiles, and wraps his arms around me. “Till see you.” He pulls away from me, leaving the kitchen 

“Nico! I call after him. He turns around to look at me. 

“Thank you.” 

The gynac’s clinic has so many…baby pictures. And all these happy looking couples. Kissing, and smiling. I can’t even imagine what it would have been like for Julian to be a part of this to have this baby with him, have him come with me on gynac appointments, shopping for baby stuff. I look to my side to look at Nico. He’s holding my hand while he reads a pamphlet about pre–natal care. It would have been lovely for Julian to be here, but I am so so grateful for Nin
