Chapter 75 Publicity Game
Callan was sprawled in the front passenger seat.
He fingered the smooth leather under him. ‘When did you get a new Mercedes GLE?‘
‘I didn’t. It’s a gift from Avery.‘ Darya handled the car with one hand on the steering wheel.
The roomy SUV was a present from her brother when she reported for work at Paragon on the first day.
‘I could’ve gotten you a better car,‘ Callan said jealously.
The three brothers often competed for the number one spot in their baby sister’s heart.
‘I know.‘ Darya smiled. ‘I saw your garage.‘
After he turned eighteen, Callan bought a house not far from the family residence, though he still spent most of his time with his family.
His two–storey house was mostly used for storage–cars, jewellery, clothes, and musical equipment.
‘I brought you a whole bunch of perfumes. And clothes. And handbags–Hermes, Chanel, Dior, LV…‘ Not to be outdone by his big brother, Callan started showing off the presents he prepared for Darya.
‘I only have two hands, you know. How many bags do you think I need?‘
‘A girl never has enough bags.‘ Callan wagged a finger at her. ‘Or clothes.‘
‘Fine. But I want to keep them at your house. I don’t want my room to be cluttered.‘
‘No problem. By the way, you can drop me off at North Park.‘
‘You are not coming home?‘
‘I am, but I need to settle some work stuff first.‘ Callan waved his phone. ‘My assistant is on his way to the
apartment.‘
‘Got it.‘ Darya keyed in the new destination in the onboard GPS guidance system.
North Park Residences was a new luxury apartment project completed last year.
It boasted all the modern facilities–two swimming pools, a 24–hour gym, a clubhouse, two BBQ pits, and a
lounge.
Darya wasn’t surprised that her brother had bought another house–Callan seemed to have a fetish for collecting.
He collected a lot of things, from luxuries like cars and watches to trinkets like rhinestone brooches.
Darya once saw an album in his study when she was a teenager.

Not an album of his music.
It was a collection of leaves Callan picked up from parks and random places.
Darya smiled at the memory.
She didn’t notice Callan had gone quiet.
He did not speak again until the car stopped at a red light. ‘Was that Micah I saw earlier?‘
‘Huh?
‘Outside the airport, when we were leaving.‘
Darya recalled the scene. ‘Yep, that’s him.‘
‘Who’s that woman with him?‘
‘Regina Fischer.‘ Darya said the name in a flat voice.
‘Who is she?‘
‘A friend of his.‘
‘Just a friend?‘ Callan frowned. ‘She was practically hanging on to him like a sloth grabbing a tree.‘
Darya chuckled. ‘They were just linking arms.‘
‘So, was he there to pick her up, or the other way around?‘
She was on the same flight as you. You didn’t notice her on the plane?‘ Darya teased her brother. ‘She’s pretty.‘
‘I was in first class.‘ Callan added after a pause, ‘I got a good look at her just now. Even if I saw her on the plane, I wouldn’t have noticed. She can’t hold a candle to you.‘
‘You are just saying that because I’m your sister.‘ Darya steered the car forward when the light changed.
‘Am not!‘ Callan insisted. ‘Ask anybody. If she’s a six, you are a ten.‘
‘Nobody’s a ten.‘
‘You are.‘
Darya smiled despite herself.
She changed the topic before Callan could complain further about Regina. ‘You need to call your publicist.‘
‘What for?‘
‘Damage control. Your, fans must have taken a lot of pictures of us together. I don’t want those pictures appearing on tabloid websites tomorrow.‘
‘What’s wrong with the pictures?‘ Callan asked jokingly. ‘I know I looked good. You were not bad, either.‘
Darya elbowed her brother in the ribs. ‘You know what the headline’s going to read–Homecoming Pop Star Dating A Divorcee.‘
Outside a very small circle of friends, very few people knew Callan and Darya were siblings.

‘You’ve just returned to Hagen, Darya said. ‘I don’t want you to be bogged down by gossip
Callan nodded.
He was about to text his publicist.
Then he changed his mind.
He noticed the way Micah looked at his sister outside the airport earlier.
When they locked eyes, Callan saw, unmistakably, hostility in Micah’s eyes.
That got him thinking.
Why would Micah be hostile towards him?
They had never met before that day.
The only reason must be Darya.
Micah kept glaring at Callan, especially at his hand around Darya’s waist.
Did this mean Micah still had feelings for Darya?
If that was the case, what was he doing with another woman on his arm?
Callan had always blamed himself for not taking a firmer stand when Darya decided to marry that man three
years ago.
He thought he did the right thing by supporting his sister, but Darya was clearly unhappy in that marriage.
Part of the reason for his return to the country was to be with his sister.
They were not just siblings, but also best friends.
