Sachin's departure left Malik as the sole level nine supreme paragon on the battlefield, so he decided to halt the assault temporarily and step out to catch a breath. A rainbow of light suddenly descended from the heavens, and a ninth-grade royal paragon landed before Malik. He frowned after recognizing the visitor as Danyal, one of those who had been with Sachin on the western front.
With a somber expression, Malik asked, "What brings you here? Aren't you stationed in the west?"
Danyal revealed with a heavy heart, "Melvin, who comes from one of the extended branches of the barbarics, has returned. He led thirty thousand barbarics to fend off the siege on our western end."
Malik was not pleased to know that Melvin had returned. Veins began to bulge on his forehead as he shot Danyal an angry glare. "How have the practitioners on your side been guarding the front lines?"
Melvin was the younger brother of the current barbaric king Allen, and they were both supreme paragons. Rumors spoke of their rivalry two hundred years prior as they vied for the title of Barbaric King. Following Melvin's defeat, he led tens of thousands of supporters westward, declaring himself their leader near Westregion's border. Though they were once bitter enemies, the devils' invasion in Northsea was an opportunity for the brothers to join forces.
With Allen, Cuthbert, and Heath already among the level nine supreme paragons of Northsea's royal city, the addition of another one in Melvin was beginning to sound like too much to handle for Malik. He felt that breaching into the sacred land was nearly impossible without a half-immortal or Sachin.
After a brief moment of deep thought, Malik was preparing to report to the tribe on the latest developments and reorganize the siege to await Sachin's return. However, several streaks of light descended rapidly, and several disciples emerged with frightened expressions.
Malik's unease grew, and he asked with a frown, "What is it now?"
