Dong Li nodded and walked over. He started unloading the sacks and baskets into an empty room with his father. Initially, he thought there wasn’t much, but after half an hour of carrying sacks, he was amazed there were still items left in the cart.
As he placed the last sack, he stood in the room, thoughtfully pondering.
’Is it even possible to fit all of this in one cart? Also, where did my father get the cart?’
he thought.
Noticing his son’s expression, Li Chenmo patted his shoulder and explained, "If you stack things right, the cart can hold even more."
Dong Li snapped out of his thoughts and asked, "Father, did someone help you pull the cart?"
Li Chenmo shook his head and said, "I didn’t need any help. The heaviest part is when you pull the cart for the first time. Once the wheels are moving, it’s not as hard as you would think. It’s different than carrying it all on your back."
Taking in his father’s explanation, Dong Li felt his doubts ease. Today, he had gained another valuable lesson from his father.
While Dong Li was boiling water in the kitchen, Lu Jueyu stored the cart back in her space. As for Li Chenmo, he needed to take a walk before returning, allowing them to explain to Father Li and Dong Li that the cart was borrowed from others.
Meanwhile, Li Lingyun was walking through a narrow alley wearing a bamboo hat that covered half of his face. As he walked, he noticed that many people were still visiting the black market, even though it was no longer early.
In the county town near Xie Village, people typically stopped coming to the black market as soon as the sun rose. But here in the capital, it was already around six o’clock in the morning, and trading was still bustling.
’Is the political situation in the capital too chaotic and the government has no time to take care of the black market?’
he thought.
When he noticed a few people looking his way, he lowered his bamboo hat and walked toward a small house at the end of the alley.
Standing outside, he knocked rhythmically on the door and waited for a while. Shortly after, the door was opened and a middle-aged man appeared. Seeing Li Lingyun, the man asked, "Who are you looking for?"
"My third son is missing, and I’m looking for him," Li Lingyun replied in a low voice.
The man nodded and stepped aside to let him in. Once inside, Li Lingyun looked around the dimly lit room and asked, "Where is my third son?"
"Comrade, please have a seat, I will call him," the man said before disappearing into the back room.
Li Lingyun took a seat and looked around the empty room. After about twenty minutes, a young man entered with the middle-aged man.
