The moment Feng Chen closed his eyes and fell to the ground, He Xieyu reached out and caught him. Then, he laid him down on the ground.
"Ah Chen!" Grandpa and Grandma Feng were shocked when they saw their son suddenly faint.
He Xieyu quickly pulled at Feng Chen’s collar and unbuttoned his shirt. Without raising his head, he said, "Please make room so he can get more air."
Grandpa and Grandma Feng quickly moved back several steps, fearing their son wouldn’t wake up if they were too late to act.
He Xieyu checked Feng Chen’s pulse and placed his legs on his own thigh. With Feng Chen’s legs elevated above heart level, he continued checking his pulse.
After a minute, Feng Chen finally opened his eyes. Seeing this, He Xieyu reached out to stop him from getting up and said, "You just fainted. You shouldn’t sit up too quickly. Take it slow."
Lying on the ground, Feng Chen slowly regained consciousness. Closing his eyes, he felt both embarrassed and sad. He never expected to faint from too much stimulation, nor did he expect his love rival to be the one saving him.
While everyone helped Feng Chen recover, Ye Xinyue stood motionless. The more she looked at him, the more her heart ached. Her face slowly lost its color as memories of them resurfaced.
"Ah Chen—" she muttered softly.
The moment she called his name, everyone was stunned. He Xieyu turned and saw his wife silently crying as she stared at another man. He clenched his fists and stood still.
At this moment, he wanted to walk over and hold her. He didn’t want her looking at another man. Yet, his feet refused to move.
Not to mention declaring his claim, he didn’t even dare to look at her expression. He was afraid he would see her love for another man in her eyes.
While he stood there with his eyes lowered, Feng Chen’s eyes shone brightly as he looked at Ye Xinyue. He pushed himself up and staggered toward her, saying, "Yue’er, you are finally willing to come back. I missed you so much—"
Seeing him, Ye Xinyue felt complex emotions surge in her heart. There was no doubt she once loved him deeply. Her love for him was so strong that she felt as if she were dying when she saw him half-naked in bed with another woman.
She also knew his love for her was real and that he had been forced into marrying that woman. What’s more, she was the one who insisted on their divorce.
She had told him she was willing to divorce because she didn’t want the Yang family to harm their families. But the truth was, she could no longer look at or treat him the same way after that night.
Even if he swore he never touched that woman, she still doubted him. She could no longer trust him fully, and that doubt was eating away at her. She has nightmares every night and can no longer eat. Every time she finished eating, she would throw it up.
She felt so tormented by his love and her own emotions that she wished she could run to a faraway place where no one knew her.
