Father Wei nodded and replied, "Since Comrade Jiang brought us here, this must be Xie Village."
Mother Wei looked around for a moment, her expression shifting to disbelief and sorrow as she said, "Our daughter and grandsons actually lived in a place like this for the past month…"
Hearing his wife's words, Father Wei let out a long sigh and said, "Wife, we might have to live here for quite a while. You should be more careful with your words. We are new here, and it's not good to offend the locals."
Upon hearing this, Mother Wei's expression darkened, and she snapped, "It's all that bastard Chen Bo's fault! If not for him, how could the Wei family have ended up like this?!"
When he heard this, Father Wei said, trying to calm her, "Enough. He is already dead. What's the use of cursing him now?"
Mother Wei wasn't an unreasonable woman. Though she had never endured hardship in her life, she had weathered her share of storms during her marriage with her husband.
Now that their family had hit rock bottom, she could still accept it as a stroke of bad luck. As long as they worked hard, she believed the Wei family could reclaim its former honor and glory.
After regaining her composure, the two of them picked up their luggage and walked into the village.
Not knowing the direction, Father Wei and Mother Wei walked toward a group of villagers sitting under a large tree.
"Excuse me, comrade," Father Wei greeted them with a smile.
Seeing two strangers dressed in expensive clothing, the villagers stopped chatting and looked them over. After a moment of observation, one of the villagers asked, "Comrade, are you here to visit relatives?"
Mother Wei nodded with a smile and replied, "Yes, we came from the capital to visit our daughter. I wonder if this comrade could point us to the production team's office?"
Since they were polite, the villagers responded warmly. A middle-aged man pointed down the road and said, "Comrade, just follow this road. After two intersections, you will find the office on the left-hand side."
"Thank you for your help, Comrade," Mother Wei said gratefully.
"You are welcome."
After they left, one of the villagers muttered, "Why do they remind me of Su Anna's parents?"
"You are still talking about them? That family is long gone, and this couple might not be the same kind of people as the Su family," the villager beside her said.
"They didn't seem like bad people. The man even reminded me of the brigade secretary. The way he carries himself and speaks—it's just like the leaders," another added curiously.
"I was just saying," the first villager replied.
Unaware that they had become the topic of conversation, Father Wei and Mother Wei finally found the production team's office.
