Li Shu didn’t know why she had no memory of their agreement. However, with this stone pendant, she now understands why Chen Jianmin insisted on marrying her in that world.
With their promise and this pendant, it seemed impossible for her to distance herself from him. From his recent behavior, she knew what he was thinking.
Although both are only twelve years old now, in four or five years, their families will surely start looking for their potential spouses. So, he might be trying to get closer to her so that they can be together more easily in the future.
After coming to this conclusion, Li Shu let out a long sigh. She was in poor health and might die young. She couldn’t be selfish and become a burden to him.
She carried the stone pendant and walked outside. Standing on the balcony, she looked at Chen Jianmin, her eyes full of guilt and gratitude. After hesitating for a while, she finally called him, "Jianmin."
After hearing her voice, Chen Jianmin raised his head and saw the stone pendant in her hand. In an instant, his eyes lit up and a smile appeared on his face.
"Shushu, it’s great that you still have the pendant," he said with joy evident in his voice.
Li Shu hesitated for a moment and said, "Jianmin, since I don’t remember our agreement, I think..."
Before she finished speaking, Chen Jianmin interrupted her, "Shushu, even if you don’t remember, the stone pendant is proof of our agreement."
He looked into her eyes and added, "Shushu, we are still young and have many years together in the future. We will grow up together, and when we reach the age of marriage, I will propose to you."
"I have made a promise to you, so if you reject me, I will never get married in my life," he added stubbornly.
Li Shu was at a loss after hearing what he said. She is only 12 years old. Although she told Song Yan that she planned to find a good man to get married to, this was just a casual statement and would not come true until a few years later.
So, when she saw Chen Jianmin being so stubborn about the promise he made when he was a child, she was speechless.
She sat on the balcony and asked, "Jianmin, we made a promise when we were kids. You shouldn’t take this promise seriously."
Chen Jianmin’s eyes darkened when he heard her words. He lowered his head and continued washing clothes silently, refusing to comment on her words.
After a moment of silence, he finally said, "Shushu, you may think this is a childish promise. But for me, things are not that simple. Without you, I would have died long ago."
"So, no matter whether you regard our promise as a joke or not, I will always keep my promise to you. I will only have one bride in this life, and that is you, Li Shu."
After finishing speaking, Chen Jianmin began to work silently. He didn’t even look at her.
