Zoey shivered. That’s exactly what she thought—but she didn’t dare say it!
"I-I didn’t mean... Natalia, help me!"
Natalia looked utterly wronged. "Mr. Reid, please don’t be so harsh. Zoey was only looking out for my sister..."
Logan let out a cold, mocking laugh. He chuckled for a moment before speaking, his tone laced with icy sarcasm.
"Looking out for your sister? Natalia, you keep saying you’re doing this for Selina’s sake, yet you push her straight into the fire."
"You claim it’s for her good, yet you accuse her of theft, saying she stole your wedding dress."
"You say you care about her, yet every word you speak is an insinuation that she seduced men and lacks self-respect."
His voice carried a distinct lack of patience. "This is how you ’care’ for your sister? Have you already forgotten the lesson from a few days ago?"
Selina blinked.
For the first time, she found Logan... breathtakingly handsome.
The way he defended her—so confident, so effortlessly sharp—made him shine, almost as if he were glowing.
She realized... she might be falling for him, just a little.
Natalia felt the weight of the stares around her, her face flushing with embarrassment. Shame crashed over her like a wave, making her knees weak. "I-I..."
Jillian hurriedly tried to smooth things over. "Ho—Mr. Reid, you misunderstood! We never meant it that way..."
Logan remained indifferent. "That’s all Mrs. Carter has to say? Should I teach you how to properly apologize?"
Jillian’s expression twisted, but as much as she wanted to lash out, she knew she couldn’t afford to offend Logan. She could only grit her teeth and swallow her pride.
"Selina, today was just a misunderstanding. We made a mistake—please be gracious enough to forgive us."
Watching the once-arrogant Jillian now humbling herself was incredibly satisfying for Selina.
Meanwhile, Kevin glanced at Sean and said coolly, "Since you like cozying up to the Carter Family so much, I’ll grant your wish—you’re fired. Get out with them."
With a loud thud, Sean collapsed onto the floor, his face drained of all color.
Regret and fear twisted his features.
He had only helped Natalia in exchange for a small favor...
How did things end up like this?!
Kevin had no interest in watching Natalia’s pitiful act any longer. With a flick of his wrist, security swiftly escorted them out.
Only then did he turn back. "Apologies, Mr. Reid, for the unsightly scene."
Logan let out a lazy chuckle. "No trouble at all. I got to enjoy quite the show."
Kevin didn’t bother with pleasantries and went straight to the point. "May I ask Mr. Reid to step aside? I need to speak with Selina privately."
Logan’s expression darkened slightly.
His smile no longer reached his eyes. "And what does Selina think? Do you want me to leave?"
Selina: "..."
She had an unsettling feeling—like if she dared to say yes, she might not survive it.
She hesitated for a moment, then stammered, "I-It’s fine, just say it. There’s nothing Mr. Reid can’t hear."
Logan looked pleased, crossing his arms and leaning casually against the window.
Kevin frowned slightly.
Since when did Selina and Logan get this close?
But there were more important matters at hand. Without wasting time, he handed something to her.
"Frostfall wasn’t actually my design. It was your mother’s. Here’s the original blueprint."
Selina lowered her gaze and instantly widened her eyes.
She had never seen this design before, but the notes beside the sketches—
"This... this is my mother’s handwriting!"
Kevin nodded. "Aside from wedding gowns, your mother’s greatest talent was jewelry design."
Selina’s lips pressed into a tight line.
She had a feeling—she was one step closer to the truth.
"Twenty years ago, Carter Family’s jewelry company released a line of pieces that became timeless classics. Before that, Carter Group’s jewelry designs were mediocre at best."
"Tell me, don’t you think the timing is a little too coincidental?"
