They couldn’t afford to let Selina leave—offending her meant offending Gordon.
The Perry Family members turned pale. "Miss Clark, please come back. Let’s talk this over properly."
Selina turned back with a doubtful expression. "Really? Maybe you should ask Miss Perry first to see if she’ll allow it. I wouldn’t want to come back just to be told to get lost again. That’d be awkward."
Mr. Perry had no choice but to force a smile. "Miss Clark, Vivian was just acting out in the heat of the moment. She didn’t really mean for you to leave. Vivian, you’ve been unreasonable—hurry up and apologize to Miss Clark."
Selina let out a mocking chuckle.
This Perry Family sure was something—flexible when needed.
Vivian’s face stiffened. This wretched woman had already been thrown out, yet now her father was groveling to bring her back?
But with so many eyes on her, if she refused to apologize, she’d suffer even more humiliation.
Biting her lip, Vivian forced out the words through gritted teeth. "I’m sorry..."
Selina raised a brow, and seeing the utter devastation on Vivian’s face, her mood instantly improved.
"Alright then. Since Miss Perry has apologized, I won’t hold a grudge."
The onlookers immediately chimed in with flattery:
"Miss Clark is so magnanimous."
"She and Vivian are worlds apart. How dare Vivian even dream of competing with Mr. Reid’s wife?"
"Mr. Perry, you’d better take your adopted daughter away. The Perry Family can’t afford this embarrassment."
Vivian had never been publicly humiliated like this before. Overwhelmed with rage, she let out a loud wail, shot Selina a venomous glare, then pushed through the crowd and ran out the door.
Logan narrowed his eyes. Jack immediately nodded and followed after her.
Mr. Perry forced a smile. "Old Madam, Vivian is still young. Please don’t be angry. I’ll make sure she apologizes to you later."
Grandma Perry sneered, "Young? She knew how to team up with our fifth to frame Selina. She’s plenty old enough!"
Then she added indifferently, "As for the fifth—moving forward, Logan will take over the appraisal institute."
With that one simple sentence, she sentenced Perry the Fifth to ruin.
His face turned deathly pale. The appraisal institute was his lifeline—how could it be handed over to Logan?
"Old Madam, how could you—Logan has no right—"
Grandma Perry let out a cold snort. "An appraiser who can’t even distinguish a crude fake from a genuine piece still dares to run an appraisal institute? And you have the nerve to ask me about Logan’s qualifications? Are you even worthy of that question?"
Perry the Fifth nearly collapsed to the floor. He was finished. Fear and regret crashed over him like a tidal wave.
Panicked, he suddenly lunged at Mr. Perry. "It’s all because of you! You and Vivian forced me to go along with this!"
Mr. Perry hadn’t expected the fire to spread to him. His face turned red with anger. "What nonsense are you spouting? Vivian and I were deceived by you!"
Grandma Perry watched their disgraceful infighting with a look of cold detachment.
This was the Perry Family. How ridiculous.
"Throw these disgraceful fools out. Selina, let’s continue our meal."
...
After the banquet, Selina and Logan returned to his courtyard.
"Logan!"
As soon as the door opened, an enraged voice rang out.
Amelia had clearly been waiting for them, and the moment she saw Logan, she rushed forward.
"What do you mean by ordering family punishment for Vivian?! Just for this vixen?! You bastard child!"
Selina instinctively turned to look at Logan. He punished Vivian for her?
