Married First, Loved Later : A Flash Marriage with My Ex's 'Uncle' novel Chapter 149

Chapter 149: Are They Really Father and Son?

Gordon sighed in exasperation. "Alright, alright. Go home then. I’ll pick you up for the art exhibition in two days."

Forget it. One Selina, who refused to recognize reality, and another—the so-called "wise ruler"—who believed everything she said. He couldn’t do anything about it.

...

Back at Sapphire Valley Villa, Selina asked curiously, "Logan, what did my Uncle Gordon talk to you about?"

Logan’s steps paused for a brief moment, his expression unreadable. "He was just worried I wouldn’t take good care of you, so he gave me some advice."

"Uncle Gordon is just overly cautious. I can take care of myself perfectly fine."

As Selina stepped into the villa, she immediately sensed something was off. Her eyes narrowed as she glanced toward the sofa—then suddenly froze.

Seated there was an unexpected guest—

Old Mr. Carter.

Selina had never imagined she would meet him under such circumstances.

But Old Mr. Carter was clearly prepared for this visit.

When he saw Selina, he didn’t look particularly surprised. "Selina, my assistant told me you and Logan got married. At first, I didn’t believe it... but it turns out to be true."

Selina sensed something hidden in his words and furrowed her brows. "Grandpa Carter."

"No wonder you lost interest in Ryan." Old Mr. Carter chuckled. "But that’s fine. Ryan isn’t worthy of you anyway. Logan is a good choice—he’s still part of the Carter Family. From now on, you’re also one of us."

Selina felt like something was off.

Old Mr. Carter saw his grandson’s former fiancée living in Logan’s house, yet he didn’t show any displeasure?

He had previously been eager to reunite her and Ryan, even trying to push them back together.

Logan’s gaze darkened. "Selina, go upstairs."

Old Mr. Carter smiled kindly. "No need to send her away. Logan, it’s been a long time since we played a game of chess as father and son."

Selina’s lips pressed into a thin line.

Father and son?

She had always suspected that Logan wasn’t truly part of the Carter Family, but now, Old Mr. Carter had personally confirmed their relationship.

Logan’s tone remained indifferent. "Old Mr. Carter, I’m busy. Jack, take my wife upstairs."

Old Mr. Carter’s smile faltered slightly. He realized he couldn’t push any further and waved his hand. "Alright then. Selina, go ahead."

Before leaving, Selina squeezed Logan’s palm lightly and whispered, "Call me if anything happens."

Logan’s lips curled slightly. "Don’t worry."

Old Mr. Carter watched Selina’s departing figure with an unreadable expression. Then, his gaze shifted to Logan.

"Logan, you don’t even bother with formalities when addressing me now?"

Logan’s expression remained nonchalant. "Didn’t I just call you ’Old Mr. Carter’? Isn’t that respectful enough? Or would you rather I use your full name—Thomas Carter?"

"Logan!"

Old Mr. Carter’s face stiffened slightly. He forced himself to maintain an amiable tone.

"Logan, I know things weren’t easy for you in the Reid Family, and you weren’t happy after you left. The Carter Family’s doors are always open to you. If you ever want to come back, you’re welcome anytime."

Logan’s lips curled into a sneer.

He didn’t know why, but in the past, he had at least tolerated the Carter Family.

Now, he didn’t even want to pretend.

"Thomas," Logan said, his voice as sharp as a blade. "You and I both know exactly what the Carter Family did to me. The only reason I haven’t exposed it isn’t because I’m incapable."

His dark eyes gleamed with icy contempt.

"It’s just that the Carter Family is already surrounded by enemies. I don’t even need to lift a finger."

"But if you continue bothering me..." Logan’s tone grew even colder, "...then I won’t mind adding fuel to the fire."

"Old Mr. Carter, you wouldn’t want the hundred-year reputation of the Carter Family to be ruined in your hands, would you?"

His voice was indifferent.

"Jack—see him out."

Old Mr. Carter’s face twisted for a moment. The warm, kind mask he had worn almost cracked apart.

"Fine... Logan, when you have time, bring Selina to visit. She and I have always been close."

At those words, something flickered in Logan’s eyes, and he suddenly let out a cold laugh.

Without another glance, he turned and went upstairs.

...

Selina hadn’t expected Old Mr. Carter to leave so quickly—not even five minutes had passed.

She felt that something was off.
