However, Viola merely smiled at her without giving an answer. Then, she vanished.
Vivian jolted awake.
At the same time, she realized there was someone in her room.
"You're awake?" A man's cold voice slithered through the darkness like a serpent, sending a chill down Vivian's spine.
The dim lighting in the room barely allowed her to make out the figure standing before her.
"Sterling?"
But as soon as she spoke, she felt an overwhelming weakness in her voice. It was as if invisible hands were gripping her throat, making every word difficult to utter.
Sterling took two steps closer, towering over her. "I underestimated you and Manfred. The two of you destroyed everything I had! And left me with nothing! I won't let you get away with it!
"Since Manfred is so deeply devoted to you, let's see if he's willing to give up his life for you!"
"Aren't you afraid of the backlash?" Vivian gasped, completely surprised that Sterling had managed to infiltrate the Atkinson residence.
Just yesterday, Manfred had assured her that Sterling was already too busy struggling for his own survival and that certain members of the Bowman family would likely finish him off within the next two days.
Yet here he was.
Sterling suddenly let out a sinister chuckle and leaned in closer to Vivian.
"Backlash? Do you think I don't know? I found all the talismans you hid in my room!" His voice was filled with venom, his teeth clenched in fury.
That day, after returning to the city from the outskirts, something had felt off. The more he thought about it, the more he realized—he had been set up.
And not just any scheme—he had been utterly and completely trapped.
Manfred had struck swiftly and ruthlessly, manipulating the other members of the Bowman family and forcing Sterling to a point of no return.

More chapters please...
Is the author going to finally portray Skylark as a brave woman who can argue and communicate like a normal person in this real world? Hoping so.......
I don't like this story portraying Skylark's personality as too weak, too naive, Can't even defend herself Like accepting every humiliation from Vera's schemes and injustice without saying anything or doing anything. I wonder who is the protagonist in this novel, Vera or Skylark....
