- They determined to rescue Lambert
William's methods had always been violent and straightforward. Since David was locked in his own bedroom, then he was unable to take even half a step out.
Frank ordered the bodyguards to guard the door.
In order to prevent Elizabeth from noticing the abnormality and being worried. Alice accompanied her in choosing the clothes of a baby. It was only when Elizabeth was tired from working so hard that Alice was able to take a rest.
Frank walked over and handed over a cup of water to her. "Alice, are you tired?"
"I'm fine." Alice said indifferently, "How is the investigation going?"
"We didn’t find the body."
Frank replied.
Hearing this, Alice's heartstrings relaxed. "This is a good thing, right? If Lambert is killed, Lancaster has no reason to keep his body."
Furthermore, Frank said that there were signs of burning inside the house, and it should have been Lambert who had found it himself. That meant that Lancaster did not know Lambert's secret and would not use him to threaten Cullen Family.
I just don't know what Lancaster intended to do with Lambert.
"Indeed." Frank nodded and paused, then continued, "But forgive me for speaking bluntly. But if Dr. Lambert does not die, it will not be good for us Cullen Family. I am afraid that a fight between Cullen Family and Lancaster cannot be avoided."
Hearing Frank's words, Alice frowned, "David ..."
Frank nodded, "The elder Young Master hasn't slept since last night. He hasn't even drunk a drop of water. I'm worried that something might happen to him if he continues like this."
They were well aware of what had happened to David.
"What did William say?"
Alice asked.
"Young master has locked himself in the study room to think about other things. Since he has yet to give any orders, I can only send people to continue searching the Dr. Lambert.
There's nothing else I can do." Frank said.
Alice set the cup of water to the side and raised her leg to walk upstairs. The Cullen Family's corridor was clean and tidy, without a single speck of dust.
"Who is this for?"
Alice asked.
"This is for Eldest Young Master, and the other is for Second Young Master." the maid replied.
Alice stood there in deep thought for a moment, then took a plate from the maid's hands and walked towards David's room. A few bodyguards and the maid stood at the door, and when they saw her, they lowered their heads and opened the door for her.
Alice walked in. This was the second time she entered David's room.
Last time, David did not come back, so this room was as empty as it could be.
The sunlight shone in through the window, but it did not warm the room at all. The air in the room was indescribably moist. There were many oil paintings on the floor and on the walls. It was like a small museum.
David sat on the bed by himself. His entire body covered by a blanket, one of his hands tied to the bed pillar unable to move.
His fluffy curly hair was messy and his face was ashen. His eyes stared at the oil paintings in the bedroom, but there was no trace of light in his eyes.
"Brother." Alice brought the plate over, and placed it on a small table by the side, and said gently, "It's time to eat."
David didn't say a word as he just sat there.
Seeing that he didn't know what to say, David sat on the bed and suddenly said in a low voice, "Since Lambert has been fighting alone. He has a weird personality. He wouldn't even notify anyone if he went to his death, and he would just bear it in silence."
Alice listened quietly.
"Do you think he did it on purpose?"
David asked, laughing Peterly.
"Brother!"
"He did it on purpose. He wanted me to suffer. That day, I left in such a resolute manner. I didn't even give him an explanation, so he went to die." David said, "Just like York, he dead without giving any instructions."
As he spoke of York, David's lips started to tremble and his eyes started to be covered by a layer of mist. He raised his hand and pressed it against his closed eyes, as if this layer of mist would never turn into tears.
"Brother, do you know? You are a person who especially likes to escape. And this might be the biggest difference between you and William."
Alice said. She rarely saw William escape, but she had seen David use escape to lead his own life.
David's body stiffened.
"The position of being the successor of the Cullen Family placed pressure on you, so you had to flee. Worried that York would not mature enough and be unable to bear the pressure, you had to flee. And you did not want to respond to the feelings of the Dr. Lambert, you had to flee." Alice said.
"I guess I failed."
David laughed Peterly and asked.
"I don't know if this is a type of failure, but I really want to ask you, after choosing to flee so many times, won't you regret it in the end?" Alice asked with a calm voice.
Regret.
How could he not regret? He regretted it long ago, he regretted everything long ago, like a bug with a Gu that drilled into his body.
