- My son is smart
In the room, William stood there and stared at the bookshelf in front of him. Looking at the book on top of it, Holy sat on the floor beside the bed, looking exactly the same as before.
Neither father nor son uttered a word.
Time passed second by second. The room was still unusually quiet. The two servants outside leaned against the door and eavesdropped for a while. They could not hear anything so they could only move to the side.
The thin lip slightly opened his mouth and said in a low and deep voice, "If you're curious why I didn't trade you for Kathy, I won't laugh at you. After all,you are so small."
Hearing that, Holy opened his closed eyes, awkwardness sweeping past his eyes, and the small hands by his side uncontrollably clenched into fists.
"I'm not surprised."
As he spoke, he forced himself to appear calm and collected, but he still revealed a trace of stubbornness.
"Then tell me why."
William stood with his back facing him, and said without turning his head, as his long fingers flipped through the book.
"The Kathy was raised by you, so of course you have to choose her."
Holy said.
He didn't find it strange that William would choose to let Kathy go home. Kathy had grown up beside William and Alice, so naturally, her feelings towards William would be different.
Just like Alice, when there was a choice, she would choose William, and William chose Kathy when there was a choice.
"Your IQ really makes me want to laugh." William laughed mockingly, and turned to look at him, the corners of his lips curving .
"Every time I thought you were smart, you were always so stupid that it would be laughable."
When had Holy ever received such mockery? His small face instantly turned half white and half green, and his small hands clenched even tighter.
"I suddenly wondered if it was the wrong choice to keep you down."
William casually threw the book away and stared at him with his black eyes.
Holy stubbornly went to meet his gaze, and his small mouth tightly shut, not saying a word.
"Is it glass heart again?" William said impatiently, "Alright, if you want to be sad, then go ahead and be sad. When you feel sad enough, we can come back and have a good chat."
They still had time, and they were in no hurry.
Holy stood there, his eyes turning. What is the glass heart? It shouldn't be anything nice.
William sat down on the side of the bed and twisted his neck, a sleepy look appearing on his face. Last night, Alice did not sleep at all because of Holy, and that night was also when Alice did not sleep at all.
Today, something like this happened again. It would be a lie to say that he wasn't tired.
'Bang, bang, bang."
There was more noise from outside.
"Why are you making such a ruckus? Are you annoyed?"
William did not want to hear any noise and immediately shouted with dissatisfaction. His temper was as violent as thunder and he was much angrier than if he had become the hostage of Lang.
Holy stood at the side and watched William, replying with a tender voice, "We are prisoners now; no one will listen to you."
Did he still think that he was Cullen family's second young master?
After he said this, the outside world fell silent. Not a single sound could be heard.
Holy was stunned. William laughed lightly, raised his head and fell down on the bed. He folded his hands under his head and closed his eyes, ready to take a short rest.
Damn it.
He simply could not sleep without Alice by his side.
However, he was a little tired and needed to rest to replenish his strength. According to this trend, Lang did not plan to provide them with food, and they would only grow weaker and weaker until they eventually lost all their ability to resist.
Therefore he had to sleep.
He had to be full of energy.
William strongly patted on the bed beside him. He did not open his eyes, and spoke in a commanding tone, "You didn't sleep well last night, go to bed! I'll wake you up in the middle of the night!"
"How do you know?"
Holy asked.
"I don't know. Alice knows."
William said coldly.
Holy's gaze immediately froze as he stood there motionlessly, his small hands grabbing onto his clothes.
After a long, long time, to the point where Holy thought that he had fallen asleep on the bed, he asked sullenly, "Why did you choose me to stay?"
What William had just said was clearly saying that what he said was wrong and it was extremely sad.
Then what was right?
Just as he was about to sit down and meditate to calm himself down, William's low and deep voice suddenly resounded in his ears.
"Because taking you along with escaping has a higher success rate than bringing Kathy."
William said.
There was no emotion in his answer.
II II
"Because you are the only bargaining chip that we can get out of here."
