Seeing Yao Ran raise her gun again, the bald man panicked and hurriedly said, "My elder brother is a minister in the central government! If you dare touch me, he will-!"
Bang!
Thud.
Yao Ran calmly looked at the bald man, who died with his eyes wide open and blood pooling on the ground.
The other four men witnessed the scene and were horrified as they felt chills down their spines. Despite the pain in their thighs, no one dared to make a sound.
After dealing with the bald man, Yao Ran turned her gaze toward the remaining four men. When they saw the way she looked at them, as if they were already dead, cold sweat covered their foreheads.
Noticing the fear in their eyes, Yao Ran asked, "Why would you try to steal from us when you clearly know our strength?"
One of the men, who looked like he was in his late thirties, clenched his hands and replied hoarsely, "My family will die if I don't find water today. I searched the city but couldn't find even a drop of water. The bald man said you had a lot of water and said he would share it with me if I helped him drive the truck."
Yao Ran thoughtfully looked at him for a few seconds before turning to the others and asked, "What about you guys?"
Resigned to their fate, they felt a strange sense of relief. The men pressed on the wounds to slow the blood loss as they lay on the ground, ready to die.
After a moment of silence, the youngest of them replied, "My family died in the flood. Now, I only have a younger sister. She is just six years old this year. I can't let her starve to death, even at the cost of my life."
Seeing he was not older than her, Yao Ran asked, "How old are you?"
"Nineteen in a few months." He replied.
Yao Ran fell silent after listening to his answer. In her previous life, she was just an ordinary college student when the world ended. Unfortunately, the world was cruel, and she was forced to do anything to survive.
Recalling her past experiences, Yao Ran lowered her gun and said, "You guys can go."
The four men were stunned, momentarily forgetting the pain in their thighs. After a few seconds of silence, the youngest man asked, "Are you... really letting us go?"
Yao Ran raised an eyebrow and asked, "Do you want me to kill you?"
The young man shook his head quickly and said, "No, no, no! We will leave right away."
Watching them struggle to leave as their blood left a trail behind, she added, "Take your boss with you."
