One of the soldiers guarding outside heard Wu Lian's order and replied, "Yes, Captain."
The soldier, familiar with Wu Lian's subtle manipulation tactics, remained expressionless as he delivered a tray of food to the darkroom.
The woman's eyes widened at the sight of steamed buns and stir-fried vegetables on the tray. She swallowed hard, unable to hide her hunger. Though she could create water to trade for food, she often struggled to eat her fill.
Noticing her staring at the food, Wu Lian pushed the tray closer to her.
"Miss, you can eat while we talk." He said.
Without hesitation, the woman grabbed a steamed bun and began devouring it. When she nearly choked, she grabbed the half bowl of water and drank hastily.
Wu Lian calmly watched her eat. As her pace slowed, his eyes flickered for a second, and he asked, "Miss, are there other people with abilities like yours?"
The woman shook her head, speaking through a mouthful of food, "No. In my team, I am the only one who can make water."
Wu Lian's gaze sharpened when he caught crucial information from her words and asked, "Do you know of others with different abilities?"
This time, the woman nodded, "Of course. Our team is very strong. Our leader is a middle- aged man who can lift cars with one hand, and there is also a college student who can run super fast."
Wu Lian's mind spins at a fast speed as he processes the woman's words. After a moment of silence, he asked, "Do you know how you gained your ability?"
The woman shook her head, "I don't know. No one on my team knows how we gained our capabilities."
Hearing this, Wu Lian asked again, "Do you still remember the process of obtaining your abilities?"
The woman frowned slightly and tried to remember.
A few seconds later, her eyes lit up, and she said, "About two weeks ago, I was dying of thirst and wished desperately for even a sip of water. Then, all of a sudden, water droplets appeared from my palm. That's how I gained my ability."
Wu Lian remained skeptical. Praying didn't grant her this ability. There must be another explanation.
After pondering for a while, he asked, "What did you eat or drink before gaining your ability?"
The woman paused, looking thoughtful, then said, "Nothing. At the time, I hadn't eaten or drunk anything for more than five days. I was nearly starving to death."
Wu Lian frowned after listening to her answer. If it wasn't food or water, then perhaps it's something unseen-a catalyst we don't yet understand.
Deciding to leave the analysis to the lab, Wu Lian stood up and exited the room without saying another word to the woman.
Seeing him suddenly leaving, the woman grew anxious and asked, "Hey! When will you let me go?"
Wu Lian ignored her, looked at the soldiers standing guard outside, and said, "Keep an eye on her."
The soldiers saluted and said, "Yes, Captain."
