Yao Ran turned off the range hood, put away the trash, and placed the trash bag outside. Just as she was about to close the door, she heard a faint cry from Unit 2001.
Yao Ran was admitted to a famous medical university through a scholarship and studied for two years. With years of medical experience in her previous life, she accumulated enough experience to know that the child's crying sounded wrong.
She stood there for a moment but decided not to meddle in other people's business. Before she could go back, the door to unit 2001 suddenly opened.
Looking at Zhou Ruilin's panicked face and red eyes, Yao Ran knew that the crying child must be her family member. Just as she was about to close the door, Zhou Ruilin saw her.
When she saw Yao Ran, her eyes lit up with hope. Zhou Ruilin rushed over and stood a few steps away from her.
She wiped the tears from her face, forced out a polite smile, and said in a hoarse voice, "I'm sorry, Miss. Can you do me a favor? My son started having a fever two days ago. But because of the heavy rain and floods, I couldn't take him to the hospital. Please help me."
Yao Ran looked at her in silence for a moment before asking, "Where is the Father?"
Zhou Ruilin clasped her hands together and said in a choked voice, "My husband is a firefighter and hasn't come back for several days."
Yao Ran glanced at her trembling hands and said, "I am a medical student at Haicheng University. I can examine your son, but I can't guarantee that I can cure him."
When Zhou Ruilin heard Yao Ran's words, she quickly bent down and thanked her sincerely, "Thank you, Miss. Thank you very much!"
Yao Ran stopped her from bowing and said, "Wait here. I had to get my medicine bag first." After Yao Ran finished speaking, she closed the door. She walked into the bedroom and then carried the medicine bag out. When Yao Ran came out, Zhou Ruilin was gone.
Seeing that the door of unit 2001 was left open, Yao Ran locked her door and walked to the apartment. As soon as she stepped into the apartment, she heard Zhou Ruilin's voice, full of fear and panic, coming from one of the bedrooms.
"Shu Shu, what's wrong with you? Don't scare your mother! Shu Shu!"
Yao Ran knew something had happened and hurried over. Seeing the child having a seizure, Yao Ran's expression changed. She quickly walked to the bed and took out a set of silver needles.
She held a silver needle between her fingers and, without hesitation, penetrated the Shuigou and Renzhong acupoints on the child's body. As she flicked and rotated the silver needle, the seizure slowly stopped, and the child's breathing stabilized.
