Long Yu shook his head, "No. I suspect this situation isn't natural."
Hearing his response, Yao Ran asked, "You mean... this is man-made?"
Long Yu nodded at her question and replied, "There is this possibility, but we cannot rule out that certain factors in nature cause it."
Yao Ran frowned and questioned further, "Is it even possible for this to be man-made?"
"There is nothing impossible in this world. It's just that we haven't seen it before and know nothing about it," Long Yu calmly replied as he tightened the night vision camera onto the drone.
After listening to what he said, Yao Ran pondered for a moment before responding, "Since you believe the current situation might be man-made, then the person responsible should still be at this base."
"That's right," Long Yu agreed.
Yao Ran handed Long Yu the drone controller, then retrieved a laptop from her storage space and connected it to the drone.
Once she was ready, she powered on the drone and said, "A Yu, let's check the entire base."
"Alright," he replied.
Long Yu operated the drone while Yao Ran observed the screen. The two of them remained on the rooftop for a long time.
Meanwhile, downstairs, Shi Xuan had already finished cleaning the first and second floors but still couldn't find Yao Ran or Long Yu. After calling out to them a few times and getting no response, he decided to head to the rooftop.
Noticing the door to the rooftop was open, Shi Xuan guessed the two of them were there. As he stepped through the doorway, he heard Yao Ran's voice.
"A Yu, next, check the slum area."
Curious, Shi Xuan approached them and asked, "Captain, Yao Ran, what are you guys doing up here?"
Hearing Shi Xuan's voice, Long Yu said, "A Xuan, you are better than me at controlling drones. Come and help us."
Shi Xuan crouched beside Long Yu and took over the drone controller. As he began operating it, he asked, "Captain, what exactly are you doing? There is nothing out there to see."
"A Xuan, don't you think it's too quiet?" Long Yu asked while studying the laptop screen.
Shi Xuan's eyes widened as realization dawned on him. "Captain, now that you mention it, it does seem eerily quiet."
Long Yu nodded and added, "Other than the noise we have made, there is no sound at all. Since we left the underground shelter, it is like the world has fallen into a silent abyss."
Hearing this, Shi Xuan frowned slightly but remained silent. With his skilled operation, he managed to inspect even the narrowest alleys in the slum.
After hours of work, Yao Ran rubbed her sore eyes and said, "I can't find anything. How about you, A Yu?"
