Nanzhi carefully climbed down the third floor and as she became closer to the water, she heard the hissing noises.
The surface of the flood water rippled and something lunged at her.
Nanzhi’s eyes narrowed and a bolo machete appeared on her hand.
With one swing, the green snake’s head was cut off. Blood splashed on the water and on her clothes.
But after three seconds, another rattle snake emerged and slithered on the steps. Because of the wounds it obtained, it seemed agitated and when it perceived a person nearby, its survival instinct was to defend itself.
Baring it fangs and flicking its tongue, it attacked Nanzhi.
Nanzhi dodged before swinging the bolo machete again. Compared to the snake before, this one had fast reflexes. Nanzhi failed at the first attempt and only managed to apprehend it at third try.
The carcass of the snake fell on the steps.
Hiss—
Hiss—
Three more crawled towards her.
Nanzhi retreated to a safe spot before finishing them off.
The fight continued for another ten minutes and the carcasses of the snakes were scattered on the stairs.
Nanzhi didn’t waste the body and collected them in her inventory.
It might have uses in the future.
She took out a water bottle filled of orange juice from her back pack and drank it to replenish her energy.
Dealing with these snakes was easy compared to the alien beasts. The only thing she needed to watch out was the venom.
Her mind wandered to Professor Zhang Heng. The flow of the water was going to the dormitory’s direction. He might encounter it by now.
The security guard had just finished pumping air into the boat and climbed down the stairs to inform Nanzhi when he saw the snakes’ heads and the blood all over the steps.
The scene was straight out of a horror movie.
His face was pale and his legs became weak. "Snakes…snakes…how come there’s so many?"
Nanzhi ignored his reaction and asked, "Done?"
The security guard nodded slowly, still shocked by the spectacle. He counted the number of heads and there were more than 20 of them. Did she finish them all by herself?
The bolo machete in the woman’s hand had fresh blood on its blade, giving him the answer.
But how can she remain so calm?
Just sight of them made his skin crawl. If it was him, it’s impossible to do such a thing. His impression of Nanzhi raised another level.
Just then, the woman went to get something from her backpack and threw it on him. He caught it.
It was a water proof duct tape and t-shirts.
He was confused until he saw her ripping out another white shirt into several strips before rolling them on her arms and legs and securing them with a duct tape.
