When Nanzhi regained consciousness, she was shocked to find the bloodied and badly beaten Lin Weihao.

She was unable to recognize him at all if not for his voice.

"For you." Lin Weihao opened his palm and showed her a fist-sized green spar.

Lin Weihao thought that she would be happy if he showed her the spar of the Tier 5 alien beast that had harm her but he received another scolding instead.

"Are you crazy? You’re just a Tier 2! How dare you challenge a Tier 5? Do you want to die?"

He tried to smile but the smile came out very ugly.

Lin Weihao was asking his self too.

Rationality seemed to have left him whenever she was involved.

Lu Nanzhi seemed to be really angry and lightly smacked his head.

"Ah. Easy! Easy! That hurts." Lin Weihao winced from pain but he didn’t get angry.

"You still know what pain is." Nanzhi snickered lightly, still fuming from his recklessness.

Lin Weihao was aggrieved but he was secretly pleased at the same time.

Does this mean she was starting to care about him?

He had a wonderful sleep that night dreaming of good things.

Nanzhi had successfully upgraded to Tier 5 and he became a Tier 3 awakener.

The two spend three months in Amber City and within that time, Lin Weihao had noticed that the distance between the two had grown thinner.

Nanzhi started to talk more and she began to open up to him whether about her past and her family to which she had never done before.

"Since I shared mine, don’t you think it’s only fair if you share yours too?"

Lin Weihao nodded immediately.

"Well, of course. How could I keep things from my future wife…ah, I mean you, a friend, a close friend, a very close friend. Yeah, that is it." With a nervous laugh, he corrected himself.

He couldn’t control his mouth on time and blurted it out of the blue. He thought Nanzhi would be angry but she just looked at him and urging him with her eyes to continue.

He had said that part out loud because of excitement and with her enhanced hearing; she should be able to pick it up.

Lin Weihao secretly smiled. Does that mean that it was finally not one-sided?

He seems to have returned to being a hot blooded youth and whenever he remembered that little detail while, he would be in a dazed and lightly chuckle every so often.

Seeing there was chance, Lin Weihao didn’t pass this opportunity and pursued Nanzhi.

Nanzhi also didn’t dismiss his advances and they finally got together when they reached Pearl City’s base.

Lin Weihao was over the moon and he secretly hunted alien beasts and gathered their spars as a Zhi Zhi’s betrothal gift for the future.

In the second year of the apocalypse, the two got married and had a child.

It was a little boy.
