"Careful." Lin Weihao freed one of his hands on the lever and grasped Nanzhi’s arms, securing them around his waist tighter.
"What are you searching for? You’ve been very distracted ever since we left the checkpoint."
"Sorry." Nanzhi was trying to see if she can find another resource point or resource points’ arrows leading to the resource points around the areas they passed.
But so far, she had seen none.
The system then told her not to be disappointed since it was still early for the other resource point to appear.
Bingdi Lotus was entirely a stroke of luck.
Before reaching the suburban area, they must first pass by the gas station where Nanzhi had looted the barrels of motor oil and tanks of diesel.
Because they had motorcycles and there are mountains of debris blocking the road, they didn’t take the usual route and made a detour, circle around driving to another road that is connected to some warehouses, and container units.
Nanzhi could see the warehouse of the abandoned factory she rented before or rather what’s left of it.
It roof was no longer there, only the pillars and the cracked floor remained.
Most of the warehouses here were in the same state and only two of them had managed to keep their walls and a part of their roof.
Aside from the abandoned factory there is also a textile factory warehouse and a cold storage for pharmaceutical medicines here.
She wanted to check if there is anything left.
Lin Weihao was also thinking the same, observing if there is anything that can be looted.
The group stopped for a bit and investigated the place with the same group arrangement.
Nanzhi distributed the satellite phones, flashlights, and boots. In case if something happens, they’ll be able to notify each other.
Yu Baoyin and Feng Ran went to the textile factory warehouse.
Bingwen and Hei Qian guarded the motorcycles and repaired their wheels.
On the other hand, Nanzhi and Lin Weihao walked straight to the cold storage.
They agreed to come back after half an hour.
Yu Baoyin and Feng Ran hadn’t even stepped inside but they already saw rolls of colourful fabric, yarn, carpets, industrial fabric, jeans and work wear, cotton quilts, synthetic fabric, medical apparel, and sewing materials scattered around, completely drenched in the half a meter deep mud.
They glanced inside, turned on their flashlights and saw the shelves toppled down, spilling the contents stacked in the racks.
The sight of it made them dismayed.
Before going inside, the two checked every corner of the textile warehouse.
Nanzhi had told them that if they saw strange colour mixed in the mud, don’t go in and stayed outside because it might be the dye and it will be dangerous for them.
Luckily there doesn’t seem to be any.
The two braved the mud and searched for something that can be still used and found some roll of vacuumed sealed fabrics have survived.
They quickly contacted Nanzhi and Lin Weihao and delivered the news.
Lin Weihao had told them that he’ll mark this spots and informed the military to patrol this area and take them to the base.
Although it was several times smaller than the textile warehouse, the cold storage warehouse was more secure. It was designed like an air tight bank vault and it is sealed by a thick steel hermetic sliding door, typically one would see in hospital and laboratories.
Hermetic doors cannot be open if there is no electricity but they can be switched to manual mode in an emergency, such as when there is no power.
It became easy for the two to break in.
The two slowly opened the door and examined the condition inside.
The floor was wet with a thin layer of murky water that reached their ankles soaking some of the medicines stored in the lowest racks but the rest were very fine, without damage.
In the midst, Nanzhi found a group of ants marching in a line towards to the back of the freezer, instead of meandering around.
For odd reason, her eyes lingered on them a few more seconds before returning her attention to medicine.
Nanzhi wasn’t sure if they were completely safe to take. She didn’t plan to use all of them, she stored those that she didn’t have like vaccines and will give rest of them to Lin Weihao instead, in exchange for jades and spars.
There must be someone in the base that is more knowledgeable than her and can sort which ones are still safe or not.
She had a garden of medicinal plants in her virtual farm. Although, she hadn’t tested their efficacy yet, the system had said that if they were concocted into herbal tonics it will be no less effective than the modern medicine.
She planned to study them deeper in the future. She had botany, herbology, pythotherapy, and other books related to herbal medicine.
Even before regression, she was already interested in these subjects. She just didn’t have the resources to do so.
Lin Weihao had been telling her secrets after secrets, and protected her secrets too. freewebnøvel.coɱ
